  • Patent number: 8656227
Abstract: An on-line client service method for a storage apparatus includes establishing a link between a client host and the storage apparatus for detecting the current status of the storage apparatus, the client host generating a diagnostic result of the storage apparatus, the client host transmitting the diagnostic result to a far-end server, the far-end server determining whether the storage apparatus functions abnormally according to the diagnostic result. If the storage apparatus functions abnormally, the client host reloads a firmware provided by the far-end server to the storage apparatus, and determines whether the storage apparatus functions abnormally after the storage apparatus is reloaded with the firmware.

  • Patent number: 8489833
Abstract: A data backup method for a flash memory module is provided. The flash memory module includes a plurality of flash memory units. In the data backup method, a controller is first provided to receive a backup function enabling signal. The controller then configures the flash memory units according to the backup function enabling signal such that at least one of the flash memory units is configured as a backup storage area and the flash memory units that are not in the backup storage area are configured as a main storage area. The controller then checks and receives an updated status of important data in the main storage area and backs up the important data into the backup storage area according to the updated status. Accessing to the backup storage area and accessing to the main storage area by the controller are independent.

  • Patent number: 8446731
Abstract: For a removable device such as a USB pen drive, two components are relatively moveable with each other by sliding, rotating, or rolling over. When a second component moves with respect to a first component, the clearance between the two components ensures durability of the removable device. As the second component moves to and is configured at an extended position, a first biasing element on the first component abuts and pushed a second biasing element on the second component so that ground nodes of the second component contact with a conductive section of the first component. The ground path way is then established for ESD protection. As the second component moves out of the extend position, the connection between the ground nodes and the conductive section no longer exists and the clearance between the two components exists again.

  • Patent number: 8311839
Abstract: An image display device includes a display unit, a storage unit, a voice receiving unit and a processing unit. The storage unit stores a plurality of image data, a plurality of voice data and a plurality of image files, wherein each of the image data is corresponding to one of the voice data respectively. The voice receiving unit receives a current voice. The processing unit judges whether the current voice is similar to one of the voice data, so as to determine one image data corresponding to the current voice. When the current voice is similar to one of the voice data, the processing unit determines whether each of the image files contains the image data corresponding to the current voice and then displays the image file(s), which contain the image data corresponding to the current voice, on the display unit.

  • Publication number: 20120233427
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides a data storage device and data management method thereof. The data storage device is coupled to a host, and includes a storage media having data sectors for storing data and a controller. The controller is coupled to the storage media for sequentially receiving one or more read commands and corresponding one or more logical addresses thereto, reads a plurality of first data sectors from the storage media according to the read commands and the corresponding logical addresses, outputs data of the first data sectors to the host, calculates a valid duration required for the one or more read commands, calculates an average data throughput according to the number of the first data sectors and the valid duration, and determines whether the average data throughput exceeds a predetermined threshold. When the average data throughput exceeds the predetermined threshold, the controller performs a blocking procedure to prevent the storage media from being accessed.

  • Patent number: 8225175
Abstract: In order to correct errors of a first page on one plane in a two-plane NAND flash memory, use data of a second page on another plane to mix the encoding and leverage the error correction code of the first page. Each of the error correction codes of the first page and the second page is divided into an inner correction code and a cross correction code. The inner correction codes are used to correct errors of their own pages and the cross correction codes are used to correct errors of two distinct groups, grouped from the even and odd bytes of the two pages respectively. The second page, with fewer errors, is therefore used to enhance the correcting ability of the first page, without lengthening the error correction code of the first page.
