  • Patent number: 7280257
Abstract: A document holding fixture for a vertical optical scanner. The fixture has a main body, a transparent panel, four linking bars, a document cover panel, and a document backing plate. The document holding fixture uses a simple four linking bar system to maintain a constant parallelism between the document cover panel and the surface of the transparent panel. Weight of the document cover panel provides necessary pressure to press a scan document firmly onto the glass surface of the transparent panel. To facilitate single hand document insertion, a stationing device is used to freeze the document cover panel when the panel reaches a horizontal position.

  • Patent number: 7268922
Abstract: A chassis locking apparatus capable of being unlocked spontaneously is used for fixing the chassis in a scanner. The locking apparatus includes a groove interlinking next to the electric socket, a push rod in the groove, and a revolving locking element. By means of the strength of inserting the plug into the socket on the scanner, the push rod is pushed to move along the groove and hit the locking element, which is originally fixed on the chassis, to make the locking element rotate so that the chassis locking apparatus can be unlocked spontaneously. Therefore, no effort is necessary for a user to unlock the chassis locking apparatus by hand before using the scanner, which is convenient and timesaving.

  • Patent number: 7269283
Abstract: A method for differentiating dynamic range of image is disclosed. The method comprises the following steps. First of all, pixel numbers with the same level value of Density units Dn?1 and Dn are compared. Next the minimum pixel numbers of each level value of Density units Dn?1 and Dn are counted. Then the minimum pixel numbers of each level value of Density units Dn?1 and Dn are summed. Next the ratio of total minimum pixel number and total pixel number R and a specification value Rs are compared. Then whether R is smaller than Rs or not is determined so as to recognize whether Density units Dn?1 and Dn could be differentiated or not.

  • Patent number: 7251064
Abstract: A calibration method of an image scanning system is provided. Initially, differences between adjacent sensing values of a calibration plate are respectively determined and then stored in a memory. Alternately, a difference between a base value and each of the sensing values of the calibration plate is determined and then stored in the memory. When a normal scan action is executed, simultaneously reading each difference from the memory and adding to one corresponding sensing value of image information of an object obtained by the normal scan action. As a result, the memory volume for storing calibration data is reduced and the reading of calibration data is also facilitated.

  • Patent number: 7250594
Abstract: A CMOS light sensor and the operation method thereof are disclosed. The CMOS light sensor has a plurality of light sensing lines and a plurality of capacitor lines. Each light sensing line has a plurality of light sensors such that the number of capacitors in each capacitor line is smaller than the number of light sensing cells in each light sensing line. The capacitors are used for holding a portion of the potentials produced by the light sensing cells due to illumination. The method of operating the CMOS light sensor includes transferring the data captured by the light sensing line to the capacitor line and reading out the data according to a pre-defined order so that the leakage of charges from the capacitor is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20070146750
Abstract: A method for generating a calibration curve is disclosed. The method comprises the following steps. Calibration data of one line image of a previous scan are first provided. Reference pixels are selected from the image line. Then a calibration board is scanned and calibration data of the reference pixels are generated. Calibration data of the reference pixels of a previous scan are then selected from the calibration data of one image line of a previous scan. Ratios of the calibration data of the reference pixels and the calibration data of the reference pixels of a previous scan are calculated. Calibration data of all pixels of the image line are finally generated by multiplying the calibration data of the image line of a previous scan and the ratios.

  • Publication number: 20070139737
Abstract: A luminous apparatus capable of adjusting the luminance is equipped in a scanner. Before mounting the luminous apparatus in the scanner, a detective device is used for detecting luminance generated from the luminous apparatus. The luminous apparatus contains the electroluminescent elements, the branching levers, and the main lever. One end of each electroluminescent element is pivoted by a pivot while the other end is connected to one branching lever correspondingly. The main lever is connected to those branching levers. When the main lever is moved by an external force, the branching levers are moved and the electroluminescent elements synchronous rotate around their own pivots. Additionally, the positions of the main lever and the electroluminescent elements are fixed when a uniform luminance is detected.

  • Publication number: 20070035787
Abstract: A method of compensating a zipper image by a K-value, and a method of calculating the K-value. Whether the nth primitive pixel of the mth line is obtained by primary line scan is determined. If the nth primitive pixel of the mth line is obtained by primary line scan, the nth primitive pixel of the mth line is compensated as the nth primitive pixel of the mth line minus a sum of the (n?1)th primitive pixel of the (m?k)th line and the (n+1)th primitive pixel of the (m?k)th line multiplied by the K-value. If the nth primitive pixel of the mth line is obtained by secondary line scan, the nth primitive pixel of the mth line is compensated as the nth primitive pixel of the mth line minus a multiplication of the K-value and a sum of the (n?1)th primitive pixel of the (m+k)th line and the (n+1)th primitive pixel of the (m+k)th line.
