  • Patent number: 6322371
Abstract: A steering wheel comprises a plug-in connector adapted to be inserted into a complementary plug-in connector for connecting a component mounted on the steering wheel, the plug-in connector being mounted at the steering wheel so as to be shiftable in a direction which corresponds to a direction of insertion of the plug-in connector. The steering wheel further comprises a flip-flop spring element which extends from the steering wheel to the plug-in connector. The spring element is able to assume a first stable position in which it biases the plug-in connector into an installation position, and a second stable position in which it biases the plug-in connector away from the complementary plug-in connector.

Abstract: The invention relates to a gas bag module comprising a gas bag with a gas bag wall, the latter including a front wall which faces an occupant to be restrained and which has a center section, and including a rear wall with an inflation opening to connect up a gas generator. The gas bag module also comprises a fastening which holds the center section in a fully inflated state of the gas bag fastened to the module and, upon inflation of the gas bag, prevents the center section from a free movement towards outside the module, so that a depression is formed by the center section. The gas bag module further comprises a module covering which is opened in a case of restraint for an emergence of the gas bag, the module covering having an annular, predetermined outlet opening which surrounds the fastening. The module covering has a holding section encircled by the outlet opening, and an emblem being provided adjoining the holding section.

  • Patent number: 6312012
Abstract: A steering wheel has a skeleton with a foamed sheathing, a hub, spokes and a steering wheel rim. A gas bag module is inserted in a central recess of the steering wheel. The gas bag module has a cover cap at the side facing the driver. For actuating a horn switch the module is movable in the direction of the steering wheel axis relative to the steering wheel. A movement gap is formed between the cover cap and the foamed sheathing. Mounting studs on the skeleton extend parallel to the steering wheel axis. The positioning of the mounting studs is defined by the foamed sheathing. The mounting studs have free ends which are slidingly accommodated in guide recesses provided in the cover cap.

  • Publication number: 20010019200
Abstract: A leather covering piece for a vehicle interior lining comprises a leather piece and an intermediate layer connected with the leather piece. A hardenable mass is applied onto the intermediate layer or the leather piece. The hardened mass gives the leather covering piece such an inherent rigidity that it maintains a curved shape and can be inserted into an injection mold. The stacking of prefabricated leather covering pieces is also possible. The shape of the leather covering piece already corresponds to that of the finished product, in particular of the vehicle interior lining for which it is used. The leather covering piece is back-molded in order to obtain a stable carrier piece which gives the entire interior lining more stability.
