    Abstract: A belt retractor for vehicle safety belts to secure a child's seats or loads on a vehicle seat comprises a belt drum rotatably mounted in a housing and a locking mechanism for preventing rotation of the belt drum. A tripping mechanism is also provided, which has a coupling disk connected with the belt drum and provided with external gear teeth. A pawl is able to be selectively pivoted between an engagement position with the external gear teeth of the coupling disk and a normal position out of engagement with such external gear teeth. A ring of gear teeth is driven by the belt drum and two gear wheels are in mesh with said ring of gear teeth. The gear wheels are rotatably mounted on the ends of a rocking member, which is pivotally mounted on the housing. An actuating arm is connected with the rocking member for the operation of the pawl.

The belt adjusting device further comprises an arresting part which is movable relatively to the holding part and comprises a deflection web. The deflection web comprises a clamping surface on its side facing the holding part. The belt webbing runs through the through passage, around the deflection web and back through the through passage. The free end of the belt webbing passes through the through passage between an edge of the through passage adjacent the contact surface and the tensioned section of the belt webbing.

Abrupt changes in velocity of the buckle in two opposite directions, appear during the belt pretensioning.

    Abstract: A gas bag module for a vehicle is provided, comprising an elongated attachment strip having two axial ends. The attachment strip is provided with a through-flow port at one of the axial ends and with two clip-type clamping sections. The gas bag module further comprises a generally tubular pressurized gas source provided with several discharge ports for pressurized gas in its outer surface at one axial end. The pressurized gas source is clamped to the attachment strip by means of the clamping sections in such a way that one of the discharge ports is located opposite the through-flow port, the remaining of the discharge ports being sealed by the first clip-type clamping section. The gas bag module further comprises a folded gas bag which is in fluid-communication with the pressurized gas source via the through-flow port and which can be unfolded by the pressurized gas.

    Abstract: A transport guard device for a belt retractor for safety belts, more particularly a belt retractor with an integrated belt pretensioner drive, wherein the belt drum, which is rotatably supported in a housing and is provided with ratchet teeth means, is able to be locked against rotation by a pawl and the housing is secured on the vehicle by means of a bolt, is characterized in that a clip (26) is provided on the housing (10) and has a resiliently elastic limb (28) engaging the pawl (16, 18) and holding same in engagement with the ratchet teeth (14) on the belt drum (12) and that the resiliently elastic limb (28) is pivoted by the bolt (25) out of position away from the pawl during assembly of the belt retractor. Due to this design, no belt webbing can be withdrawn from the belt reel when the belt retractor is not mounted in a vehicle. This is particularly advantageous with belt retractors in which the pretensioner drive cannot be triggered as long as no belt webbing is withdrawn from the belt reel.

A force limiting torsion rod is connected to the belt drum for joint rotation. Blocking pawls are pivotally mounted on the torsion rod for cooperation with an internally toothed ring rigidly connected to the frame and surrounding the blocking pawls. The blocking pawls are spring biased to neutral positions out of engagement with the toothed ring. Retarding mechanism act on the blocking pawls to retard their movement out of a belt drum blocking position in engagement with said toothed ring to the neutral position.

The end section extends through the slot, around the rod and finally through the slot out of the interior cavity. The end of the end section is provided with a thickened part having a width which, as measured in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis, is larger than the minimum width of the slot.

This is achieved since a first one (26) of such fittings is fixedly connected with the metal frame (20) having a deflection pin (22) arranged therein and a second one (32) of the fittings is fixedly connected with a first end of a metal strip (30), which is adapted to be drawn about the pin (22) along a positively set path. Owing to such configuration it is possible for the characteristic of the force limiter to be selected by the designer within a wide range independently of the threshold value as from which the force limiter takes effect.

Since the gas generator is not accommodated within the steering wheel, the size and weight of the steering wheel are reduced.
