  • Patent number: 4270443
Abstract: Apparatus for forming a convolute paper tube on a winding mandrel, including means for conveying a sheet of paper from a gluing and cutting apparatus longitudinally of the winding mandrel, with an edge of the paper sheet engaged in a longitudinal slot in the mandrel, to a position where the sheet edge is fully engaged with the mandrel suitably for winding. The conveying means includes a belt conveyor for slidable frictional engagement of the paper sheet to convey the paper sheet into winding position while being slidable with respect thereto so that the paper can remain in proper winding position while in continuing contact with the moving conveyor belt. Support wires, guides, trim rolls, and a stop are also provided in the apparatus for controlling the pick up, transport, alignment, and terminal position of the sheet.

  • Patent number: 4180164
Abstract: A packaging arrangement for housing a plurality of U-shaped fluorescent lamps in a corrugated container is provided having a plurality of first and second corrugated inserts each having a plurality of aligned, spaced slots extending inward a predetermined distance from a first edge of each thereof. The inserts are mounted on one another by sliding one insert in the slots of the other, the slots being aligned and the inserts being positioned orthogonally with respect to each other and as assembled extending between the four sides of the container. The firt and second inserts when so mounted form a plurality of rectangular compartments therein which conform generally with and are adapted to house U-shaped fluorescent bulbs therein.

  • Patent number: 4161704
Abstract: Circuit components such as frequency filters, impedance transformers, and time delay elements are fabricated into an assembly which is electrically and mechanically coupled to the center conductor. A seamless dielectric material is telescoped over the assembly and then the assembly is telescoped into a seamless outer jacket of conductive material. Then the ID of the outer jacket is reduced into contact with the dielectric material surrounding said assembly and center conductor by drawing said jacket through a die.

  • Patent number: 4021697
Abstract: A crossed-field amplifier with a beam modulating grid for the electron gun has an auxiliary electrode which modifies the electrostatic field and thus the electron beam adjacent the entrance of the amplifier interaction space. Efficiency is improved and incidence of electrons striking the delay line is reduced.
