  • Publication number: 20120319363
Abstract: A seal for use with a radiator having a plurality of edge extending and assembleable portions collectively establishing a frame around the radiator. The upper and lower extending sides can include a number of materials, not limited to a 40% calcium carbonate polypropylene. The edge extending and interconnecting sides are further constructed, in cross section, of a harder material as a flat extending first face along with an intermediate positioned snap fit portion, such as for engaging a condenser tank, as well as at least one pin receiving location. A second softer material is coextruded to an edge of the harder material and, upon assembly into a four sided frame with the upper and lower sides, is affixed both around and at least partially forwardly of the radiator face in order to redirect/funnel air to the front of the radiator.

  • Publication number: 20120318395
Abstract: A tubing incorporated into a vehicle fuel tank system including an elongated and flexible tubular shaped body having a hollow interior exhibiting pluralities of alternating inner and outer diameter spaced locations. The inner diameter locations exhibit a first plurality of annularly projecting ribs, the outer diameter locations exhibiting a second plurality of ribs exhibiting a larger dimension. In this fashion, a plurality of individual tubing sections are incorporated into each of gas vapor (outflow) vent lines and fresh intake air (inflow) lines such that an inner airflow profile is established within the body to retard the generation of sound associated with volumetric airflow.

  • Publication number: 20120175823
Abstract: A system and process for forming an impact absorbing vehicle headliner extrusion including feeding a viscous polymeric material to an extrusion chamber, introducing a vacuum into an interior of the chamber, progressively forming the material into an extruded shape by subsequently passed through a series of sizer dies positioned at communicating interior locations along the chamber, and drawing an extruded profile out of the chamber prior to bending and forming into an overall closed profile. Pluralities of structural supporting ribs are formed within an open interior of the extruded profile. The chamber is separated into a front vacuum tank incorporating a first plurality of sizer dies and an interconnecting rear vacuum tank incorporating a second plurality of sizer dies for assisting in the formation of the ribs within a hollow interior profile associated with the extruded article.

  • Publication number: 20120175544
Abstract: A displaceable valve body incorporated into a housing including a rigid thermoplastic body including suspended within the housing by a vertically displaceable stem associated with a solenoid. A softer thermoplastic material is applied in perimeter extending fashion to an exterior of the first material for sealing the valve when displaced to an interrupting position established between inlet and outlet locations communicating with the valve housing and, in the lowered position, a lower and arcuate configured edge of the body seals the interior of the valve housing. The solenoid is mounted atop the housing and communicates with the body via an interiorly/vertically translating stem in order to selectively lift and lower the body relative to a through flow interior established within the housing.

  • Publication number: 20120175848
Abstract: An improved Rieber type seal having an annular extending profile composed of a first thermoplastic material exhibiting a first rigidity and a second thermoplastic material having a second lesser rigidity is applied over the first material such that at least one surface of the first material is exposed upon installing within a first pipe section and contacts an inserting end of a second pipe section. The first material can include a glass filled polymer reinforced or other thermo rigid material, whereas the second material may include a softer thermoplastic backing material injected around the first material in a solidifying stage or may be one selected from the group including a thermoplastic vulcanite (TPV), thermoplastic urethane (TPU) or styrene ethylene butylene styrene (SEBS).

  • Patent number: 6837519
Abstract: An improved latch plate for a seat belt attached to a vehicle C-pillar. The latch plate is produced from a plated metal stamping that has a portion over molded with a hard polypropylene coating. This portion has a slot for pass through of the seat belt webbing that allows free travel of the latch plate in order for the seat occupant to fasten and wear the belt. A surround of soft Santoprene® 221-55 is over molded over the polypropylene coating for sound reduction.

  • Patent number: 6323159
Abstract: A product and a process for using a resilient, self-lubricating, shaped product for use in minimizing friction when the surface of said product is in contact with a relatively movable surface comprising the composition of a thermoplastic polyurethane and an amide having the general formula: RC(═0)NHR′, wherein R is the residue of a saturated fatty acid and R′ is the residue of an unsaturated fatty acid, said amide being intimately interspersed within said thermoplastic urethane for continual migration outwardly from said surface. The amide is preferably N-oleyl palmitamide.

  • Patent number: 5626384
Abstract: In vehicles, such as automobile minivans, a sliding door is sometimes provided with a stabilizer assembly that includes a male part usually attached to the sliding door and a female part usually attached to a door frame that is stationary with respect to the body of the vehicle. The stabilizer assembly helps to prevent relative movement and vibration of the sliding door while the vehicle is moving. To reduce unwanted noise generated by the stabilizer resulting from relative movement between the male and female parts while in contact, the male part is formed substantially of a urethane material and the female part is formed substantially of a nylon material. Preferably, the male part may be formed partially of a fluorocarbon resin such as Teflon.TM., for added lubricity, and the female part may be formed partially of fiberglass to enhance tensile strength, a fluorocarbon resin, or barium sulphate.
