  • Patent number: 8257401
Abstract: A bone screw, which can be a pedicle screw, is generally tulip-shaped. A bore in the bottom of the tulip permits a threaded shaft to be partially inserted into the open interior of the tulip. A seat is formed on the threaded shaft and receives the bottom of the tulip, and prevents the threaded shaft from being inserted too far into the tulip. A saddle is positioned in the interior of the tulip and receives the end of the threaded shaft on one end and can include a trough on its opposite face which can receive a rod that connects together two or more such assemblies. A retaining screw threads into the upper interior surface of the tulip to hold the subcomponents together.

  • Patent number: 8258195
Abstract: A method is disclosed for converting syngas to Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) hydrocarbon products. A synthesis gas including carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas is provided to a F-T reactor. Also, acetylene is supplied to the F-T reactor. The ratio of the volume of acetylene to the volume of synthesis gas is at least 0.01. The synthesis gas and acetylene are reacted under suitable reaction conditions and in the presence of a catalyst to produce F-T hydrocarbon products. The F-T hydrocarbon products are then recovered from the reactor. The synthesis gas and acetylene may be provided in a combined feed stream or introduced separately into the reactor. The acetylene enhanced syngas conversion in a F-T reactor results in the synthesis of F-T products which have a tighter distribution of intermediate length carbon products than do F-T products synthesized according to conventional methods.

  • Publication number: 20120221303
Abstract: A computer-implemented system, method, and software are provided for solving linear systems of equations arising in reservoir simulation. A linear system of fluid flow equations, including a plurality of unknown variables, is provided that represents fluid flow properties in a geological formation of a subterranean reservoir. Block diagonal scaling is applied to the linear system of fluid flow equations. Threshold incomplete lower-upper approximate factorization is applied to obtain a preconditioning matrix, which can be used to iteratively solve unknown variables associated with the system of fluid flow equations. Preconditioning can be used directly as part of a preconditioned Krylov subspace method or alternatively as a 2nd stage preconditioner in a CPR algorithm.

  • Publication number: 20120218594
Abstract: A system and method for fulfilling a customer's print job needs through a process carried out by an online platform. The process includes the steps of receiving the print job with particular requirements from the customer, and retrieving from database profiles of a multiplicity of participating print shops to determine which print shop or print shops can handle the print job by matching all of the particular requirements. If it is determined that there is one print shop suitable to handle the print job by best matching all of the particular requirements, then assign the print job to the one suitable print shop. If it is determined that more than one print shop is needed to handle the print job, then split the print job and assign the split print job to a plurality of suitable print shops that together can best match all of the particular requirements of the print job.
