  • Patent number: 6052741
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for fetching the identifications of the SCSI (Small Computer Systems Interface) equipment even under the circumstances interrupted by ESD (Electro-Static Discharge). The fetch method samples the identification of an SCSI equipment plurality times, and then performs a classification scheme to those sampling values to search the sampling value that is most frequently appeared. The most frequently appeared sampling value is then treated as the identification of the SCSI equipment.

  • Patent number: 6041105
Abstract: An external adapter circuitry is plugged into the printer port of a host computer to provide the utility of computer telephony for the host computer. The circuitry is housed in a compact box which is about the size of a common parallel port connector. The circuitry consists of a telephone line interface for receiving and sending signals from/to the telephone line; a printer port interface for sending data to and receiving data from the host computer; a couple of registers for latching signal-in and signal-out; a A/D converter for converting analog signals to digital signals; and a D/A converter for converting digitized signals to analog signals. More specially, the electricity of the entire circuitry is supplied from a signal-to-power converter which obtains voltages from the printer port. Therefore, the external adapter circuitry does not need a power line for external power supply.

  • Patent number: 6005688
Abstract: A batch scanning method for an image input system includes sorting a plurality of image areas according to top positions of said image areas. A calibration mode is set. Next, top, bottom, left and right positions of the present image area, and the top position of the next higher image area are set to some registers. Thereafter, the image input system is calibrated when the present image area is the highest image area of the sorted areas. Then, the present image area is scanned. Afterward, a light source and a photodetector are moved to the top position of said next higher image area when at least one image area has not been scanned. The position setting step, the scanning step and the moving step are repeated until the lowest image area has been scanned.

  • Patent number: 6002508
Abstract: An optical scanner with the scanning and transmission control circuit board removed out of the scanning casing and formed in an interface card connectable to an interface connector located on a computer motherboard. The interface card has an interface socket connectable with a cable which wires respectively to an optical scanning means and a transmission means of the scanner. Computer power supply provides power needed in the scanner through the cable. Scanning signals are transmitted through the cable between the scanning means and the interface card. The interface socket may be a high speed one (such as an IDE) without sharing with a printer on a low speed parallel port like a conventional scanner. Since the control circuit board is located outside the scanner, the scanner may be made thin and smaller size, thus saving packaging, warehousing and transportation costs. Without sharing a parallel port with a printer, the scanning and printing processes may be performed concurrently at high speed.

  • Patent number: 5956436
Abstract: A method for dynamically scanning an image is disclosed. The present invention substantially improves the quality of the image according to specific distribution of the gray levels. In one embodiment, an image is first scanned using a set of parameters to generate a first image. The compositional distribution of the first image is then analyzed. If a predetermined amount of the compositional distribution of the first image does not lie within a predetermined range, then at least one parameter is adjusted. Next, the image is secondly scanned using the adjusted set of parameters to generate a second image. Finally, the first image and the second image are combined or added to generate a composite image so that at least the predetermined amount of the compositional distribution lies within the predetermined range.

  • Patent number: 5945800
Abstract: Method for controlling the rotating speed of an electromechanical device is disclosed herein, the aforementioned method including the following steps. The first step is to map a plurality sets of electrical-parameter means to different ranges of rotating speed of the electromechanical device to form a mapping table. The plurality sets of electrical-parameter means couples various resistance to the electromechanical device and eliminating the back EMF (Electro-Mechanical Force) in said electromechanical device. The second step is to connect a set of electrical-parameter means of said plurality sets of electrical-parameter means to a driving means. The driving means is used to provide the power that used in the operation of the electromechanical device, the set of electrical-parameter means is connected to the driving means according to the mapping table.
