Publication number: 20080083496Abstract: This invention introduces an improved method for bonding two surfaces using silk-screen printing technology. The method according to the invention reduces possible occlusion of the screen, thus improving the print quality of the deposited cement film. This is accomplished by adding particles to the print medium. In addition, by selecting the size of the particles it is possible for these, serving as spacers during the bonding process, to define the thickness of the cement layer. An additional procedural step describes the controlled mutual approach of the bonding surfaces.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 2006Publication date: April 10, 2008Applicant: Unaxis Balzers Ltd.Inventors: Philipp Smole, Johannes Edlinger, Alexander Bietsch

Publication number: 20070030563Abstract: An optical filter for manipulating the spectrum of a light source is comprised of a transparent substrate and a first layer system applied to only one side, preferably an interference layer system. The substrate and the first layer system form a combined UV and IR filter (UV-IR filter) such that radiation portions both below a wavelength of 420 nm, particularly in the UV range, and above a wavelength of 690 nm, particularly in the IR range, are not fully transmitted via the first layer system.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2006Publication date: February 8, 2007Applicant: Unaxis Balzers Ltd.Inventor: Othmar Zueger

Publication number: 20060278334Abstract: In a method for manufacturing an optical storage medium a first 1 and a second circular substrate 2 are being provided and being joined by means of a W curable resin forming an intermediate bonding layer. Then said two bonded substrates are being illuminated with UV light with the exception of the very outer edge of the bonded disc. Afterwards said two bonded disks are being spun and thereby a removal of unwanted resin (adhesive) from the outer edge takes place.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 9, 2006Publication date: December 14, 2006Applicant: UNAXIS BALZERS LTD.Inventors: Bernd Heinz, Cem Yavaser

Publication number: 20060245341Abstract: A disk for optical storage media is being embossed with information during the injection molding process on both sides. Using 2 such disks, a reflective coating is being applied on the front side of the first disk and a resin layer is being applied on said reflective coating. Then the back side of said second disk is being pressed into the resin layer to transfer the embossed information to the first disk. After separating said second disk from the first one the second disk is being used as first substrate in a subsequent process, thereby avoiding any waste stamper disk.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 1, 2006Publication date: November 2, 2006Applicant: Unaxis Balzers Ltd.Inventor: Helfried Weinzerl

Publication number: 20060225777Abstract: A composite solar collection module includes a thin film solar collection cell that is encapsulated between a transparent substrate, such as glass, on one side, and an electrically insulating film on the other. A metallic layer is disposed over the electrically insulating film to provide protection against diffusion of atmospheric species that may harm the thin film solar collection cell. The insulating and metallic layers are dimensioned so that a larger collection cell can be used to collect solar energy over a larger proportion of the available substrate surface area, without causing arcing between the cell edge and the metallic layer edge.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 10, 2006Publication date: October 12, 2006Applicant: Unaxis Balzers Ltd.Inventor: Arthur Buechel
