Abstract: Hydrogenated 2,3- and 6,7-poly(alloocimene) is described. The polymer is useful as flexibilizing agents in elastomeric coatings and as tack modifiers in pressure sensitive adhesives.
Abstract: Metal complexes of poly(alloocimene) having conjugated double bonds in pendant side chains, with metallic compounds are useful as electrically conductive coatings.
Abstract: Epoxidized poly(alloocimene) is described. The polymer is useful as a cross-linker (curing agent) for polyester, polyether and polyurethane coating compositions.
Abstract: A method and device which measures the velocity of ultrasonic waves in a moving web is disclosed. The excitation source is a laser or other device which produces short intense light pulses and the detection system is either a peizoelectric transducer or a microphone. The latter obviates any need for physical contact with the web in order to carry out tests for strength parameters as the web is manufactured.
Abstract: An improved poly(ester-amide) resin useful as a binder in printing inks. The resin comprises the hydroxyl-terminated ester of a diol with a polyamide which is the polymerization product of an excess of an acid mixture which comprises either a dimerized C.sub.8 -C.sub.24 fatty acid or a C.sub.19 -C.sub.21 diacid, a monomeric C.sub.16 -C.sub.18 fatty acid, a monomeric C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 fatty acid, and a mixture of diamines which comprises ethylenediamine, and a C.sub.6 diamine.
Abstract: Polyamide and poly(ester-amide) materials are melt-blended to give products having good flexibility at high and low temperatures. The blends are useful for potting, encapsulating, and adhesive applications.
Abstract: The disclosure is of an improved process for the Oppenauer oxidation of geraniol/nerol to obtain citral. The improvement comprises the use of selected tertiary aldehydes as hydrogen acceptors.
Abstract: Aqueous printing ink vehicle and ink compositions are disclosed, which are based on sulfated or sulfonated organic compound binders or non-ionic pigment binders.
Abstract: A method of preparing terpinen-4-ols and intermediates thereof, by reacting 1,4-cineole with an alkali metal aryl compound, resulting in an E2 elimination reaction of 1,4-cineole.
Abstract: A method of preparing delta-terpineol by reacting 1,8-cineole with an alkali metal aryl compound resulting in an E2 elimination reaction of 1,8-cineole.
Abstract: A process for extruding biaxially oriented high density polyethylene film in which an additional secondary gaseous cooling medium is applied at strategic strain inducing locations of the blown bubble to control the final product properties of the extruded material.
Abstract: A process for producing long-chained diesters of C.sub.22 and C.sub.32 diacids. The process comprises the steps of reacting cyclohexanone with an alcohol of 1-6 carbon atoms and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of an acid catalyst and water at a temperature below the boiling point of the alcohol. Methoxycyclohexyl hydroperoxide is thus produced and reacted with a terpene diene in the presence of a transition metal salt in a nitrogen atmosphere to produce long-chained diesters of C.sub.22 and C.sub.32 diacids. These long-chained diesters are then separated from the reaction mixture.

The excitation source is a laser or other device which produces short intense light pulses and the detection system is either a piezoelectric transducer or a microphone. The latter obviates any need for physical contact with the web in order to carry out tests for strength parameters as the web is manufactured.
Abstract: In the present invention, poly(ester-amide) hot-melt adhesives are prepared from condensation of a mixture of polymeric fatty acids and 1,18-octadecanedicarboxylic acid, and a substantially equivalent proportion of a mixture of a polyamine and a polyol.
