Abstract: Apparatus including a tubular outer member having a baffle plate positioned therein downstream from the point of injection of gas into said tubular outer member. The baffle plate contains vanes for directing gas spirally to the inner walls of the pipeline to be cleaned. Abrasive material, usually sand, is introduced into the device through a line passing through the center of the baffle plate secured thereto so that the line and the baffle plate may be removed from the tubular outer member as a unit.
Abstract: Thermoplastically processable polyurethanes are produced by the reaction of tolylene diisocyanate, at least one polycaprolactone diol, a low molecular weight diol chain extender and water.
Abstract: A double walled cryogenic storage container with a vacuum space containing multi-layer insulation comprising thin radiation layers separated by permanently precompressed sheets comprising fibers having 3-40 microns effective diameter in stacked crossing relationship and at least 1% of the fibers being heat softenable and heat bonded together at cross points without external binder.
Abstract: A rod for hard-facing substrates is disclosed using a hard facing material consisting essentially of at least one vanadium carbide. In a particular embodiment of the invention tungsten is present in the hard facing material in solid solution with vanadium carbide.

Abstract: A flotation process for recovering scheelite from low-grade tungsten ores containing calcium-bearing minerals other than scheelite. Calcium oxide (lime) is added to an ore pulp together with a carbonate alkalizing agent, dispersant and anionic collector. The pulp is subsequently subjected to flotation and the scheelite recovered.
Abstract: Synthetic organic fibers, which have been silicone treated to improve other properties, are treated with certain chelators, such as, ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid and its salts, as flame retarders to reduce their flammability.
Abstract: Ethylene polymerization catalyst which is .pi. allyl chromium compound in the chromium [II] valence state and supported on silica or silica-alumina, and a process for making such catalyst.
Abstract: A gas tight seal is provided for a rotating grinding mill having peripheral discharge outlets. The mill has a rotatable shell into which the material to be ground is fed. During operation, the shell is provided with a gaseous inert atmosphere. The seal comprises annular members adjacent the shell with circumferential grooves in said annular members carrying pressurized gas which prevents fine particles from lodging between the bearing surfaces on which the shell rotates and which also prevents loss of inert gas from the shell.
Abstract: A galvanic dry cell having a resealable subseal comprising a cup-shaped flapper vent valve having an opening at its center for receiving and contacting the cell's current collector rod and a peripheral edge segment contacting and conforming to the inner wall of the cell's container and adapted for deflecting upwardly thereby providing a resealable vent path at the valve-container interface.
Abstract: Acidic cation exchange resin whose activity has been reduced by fouling from phenolic tars and/or by contamination by metal ions, is regenerated by treating such resin with an acidified phenol/water wash.
Abstract: Cellular urethane polymers are provided by effecting the reaction of an organic polyol reactant comprising a polyether polyol and an organic polyisocyanate reactant in the presence of a blowing agent and a catalyst system comprising a tertiary-dimethylamino ether mono-ol. In the dimethylamino ether mono-ols employed as catalysts in the practice of the invention, the tertiary-dimethylamino group and the hydroxyl group are positioned beta to a common acyclic ether oxygen atom or to different acyclic ether oxygen atoms which in turn are positioned beta to one another. The said dimethylamino ether mono-ols are versatile, low odor catalysts and are useful in forming cellular urethane polymers ranging from all water-blown flexible polyether foam to all fluorocarbon-blown rigid foam including semi-flexible and high-resilience foam products.

Abstract: A particular class of sulfolanyloxyalkyl-substituted organosilicone polymers are provided which comprise chemically combined monofunctional siloxy units (M.sub.o) and difunctional siloxy units (D.sub.o) and, for every two moles of M.sub.o, an average of from about two to about 100 silicon-bonded sulfolanyloxyalkyl groups (Q) and an average of from about 2 to about 30 silicon-bonded E.degree. groups where E.degree. is hydrogen or a polyoxyalkylene block (E). When E.degree. is hydrogen, the polymers are sulfolanyloxyalkyl-substituted polyalkylsiloxane hydrides and, when E.degree. is E, the polymers are sulfolanyloxyalkyl-substituted polyalkylsiloxane-polyoxyalkylene copolymers. The monofunctional siloxy units encompassed by M.sub.o have at least two alkyls bonded to the respective silicon atoms thereof and the difunctional siloxy units encompassed by D.sub.o have at least one alkyl bonded to the respective silicon atoms thereof, the remaining group bonded to silicon of said M.sub.o and D.sub.

Abstract: Provided as novel compositions are sulfolanyloxyalkylheptaalkylcyclotetrasiloxanes. The cyclic polysiloxanes of the invention are especially useful as monomers for the formation of higher molecular weight polymers comprising difunctional dialkylsiloxy units in combination with difunctional sulfolanyloxyalkylmonoalkylsiloxy units.
Abstract: The battery assembly incorporates a mechanical tab connection which has a multiplicity of projections for penetrating an electrode to form a mechanical joint and for simultaneously establishing electrical contact with the electrode through such joint.
