Abstract: A tape feed device for an elastic tape from a supply at a sewing machine having a biased actuating lever, whose angular position varies in dependence upon the size of a loop and which controls the motor of a take-off roller. An adjuster, which is electrically actuable in a controlled manner, acts on the actuating lever in such a way that the tape tension can be altered in accordance with an electrical variable. The adjuster has a coil whose electromagnetic field lines cut an armature which is connected to the actuating lever.

Abstract: A feed dog drive having an adjustable feed direction for a sewing machine having, a needle plate, a presser foot, and a feed dog element. The drive has a device for carrying out a feeding and lifting motion of the feed dog element, a holder, and a device for rotatably mounting the feed dog element on the holder such that it can be turned is synchronism with stitch formation of the sewing machine.

Abstract: A drive device for a reciprocating part having a part which is connected to a stepping motor whose direction of rotation can be changed. The stepping motor is reciprocatingly actuated in a single step length between no more than two step positions, such that it is possible to move the reciprocating part backwards and forwards in a predetermined manner in a simple and reliable way.

Abstract: A device for forming a thread chain on a multiple-needle chainstitch sewing machine having at least two sewing needles, a looper, a needle plate having at least two needle hole slots and a stitch formation tongue disposed between the needle hole slots, and a feed device comprising a feed dog and a presser foot, and a sewing thread brake device disposed beneath the stitch formation tongue beyond the sewing needles in the direction of sewing. The device brakes the sewing threads, and deflects them in such a way that a thread chain is formed.

Abstract: A sewing machine has a needle bar, which is mounted in a frame, a continuously operating feed device for the workpiece, a looper which reciprocates transversely to the workpiece feed direction, a spindle which is mounted in the sewing machine arm, and a cam, which is disposed on the arm spindle in order to swing the frame in the workpiece feed direction. The frame is driven in dependence upon the movement of the arm spindle by way of a positively connected transmission. Two cams permit optimum adaptation of the swinging movement of the frame to the continuously moving workpiece.

Abstract: A tape feed device for a sewing machine for feeding to a sewing location of the sewing machine at least one tape from a supply having a drive roll for feeding the tape, a feed roll disposed in the path of the tape between the supply and the drive roll, a stepping motor for driving both the drive roll and the feed roll, and a guide for passing tape around at least part of the feed roll which is capable of feeding more tape than the drive roll.

Abstract: A trimming device for trimming a top cover thread from a workpiece on a multiple needle sewing machine having a thread catching device which is movable between a counter-plate and a knife. In operation the top cover thread is picked up by the thread catching device between a workpiece and a top cover thread guide. A top cover thread trap serves as a counter-plate for the thread catching device. The knife is attached to the counter plate with a gap therebetween, with the thread catching device being swingable within said gap.

Abstract: A device for a two-needle overedge sewing machines for sewing in a thread chain. The device has a pair of needles, and a pair of slots in a needle plate for the needles. The device further has a pair of stitch formation tongues, and a directing mechanism in order to guide the thread chain into a needle hole slot between one of the stitch formation tongues.

Abstract: A looper drive for a chainstitch sewing machine comprising a rigid guide stud which is part of a support member for a looper shaft. The rigid guide stud is surrounded by a bushing which is swivably mounted on the guide stud. The guide stud as well as the bushing are provided with openings through which the looper shaft extends.

Abstract: A cutting device on a sewing machine for cutting a tape or tape-like lace comprising, a first blade which is disposed on a swingable blade guide and which has a cutting edge which cooperates with the cutting edge of a further second blade secured to a holder. The cutting device has a feed device, provided with a shaft for feeding the tape or tape-like lace, the arrangement being such that the cutting edge of the blade on the swingable blade guide is movable in a substantially cylindrical path of swing about the center of swing of the blade guide, and such that the cutting edges of the blades are inclined towards one another when in a cutting position, the holder for the further blade being situated within the cylindrical path of swing of the cutting edge of the blade disposed on the swingable blade guide.

Abstract: A presser foot assembly for use with a workpiece support in a sewing machine having a sole plate, a body for supporting the sole plate in a position for pressing material to be sewn onto a workpiece support, and a lead-in sole part. The assembly has a pin for pivotally connecting the lead-in sole part to the sole plate, and a spring for moving the lead-in sole part between a first position adjacent the workpiece support and a second position spaced from the workpiece support.

Abstract: A thread break detector for a thread in a sewing machine comprising, a sensor device having a signal path cross section for scanning, a first thread guide disposed on one side of the sensor device, and a second thread guide disposed on the other side of the sensor device and being movable in synchronism with the stitch formation of the sewing machine, such that the second thread guide deflects the thread in the region of the sensor device a greater amount than the cross section of the sensor device signal path.

Abstract: In a sewing machine having at least one needle and one looper underneath a throat plate, a guiding and aligning device comprising, a permanent magnet positioned underneath the throat plate in the cloth feeding direction on one side only of the needle and positioned sufficiently close to the needle to attract the needle to the side toward the magnet, such that the needle is guided and aligned with respect to the looper.

Abstract: A sewing machine presser foot attachment including a driven feed wheel proximately arranged relative to the reciprocal path of a needle. The feed wheel is powered by a drive shaft arranged to the rear of the feed wheel in the direction of sewing. A constant velocity universal joint arranged between the drive shaft and feed wheel permits vertical and horizontal pivotal movement of the feed wheel relative to the work supporting surface of the machine.

Abstract: A lubrication system for eccentric drives in a sewing machine wherein lubricant is fed through a hollow drive shaft and communicative radial ports. At its outlet end, the radial port is in fluid communication with a lubricant reservoir arranged on the eccentric's periphery. The lubricant reservoir being disposed on that portion of the eccentric's periphery measuring the greatest distance from the eccentric's rotating center.

Abstract: An automatic sewing apparatus capable of blind stitching an S-shaped hem in the marginal edge of a tubular workpiece. The sewing apparatus is provided with a tensioning device including a pair of roller supports which arrange an open end of the workpiece in a closed loop formation. The roller support, arranged on the downstream side of the sewing machine, is provided with a guiding portion adapted to receive and controllably guide the sewn and hemmed edge of the tubular workpiece.

Abstract: A mechanism for seizing and holding a thread, particularly the looper thread, of a chainstitch sewing machine to insure needle penetration of the thread triangle thereby assuring enchaining of the needle thread with the looper thread. Such mechanism includes an oscillatable thread spreader which transversely moves across the looper's endwise path of travel. The spreader motion being in timed relation with the stitch forming instrumentalities such that its effectively travel extends between the looper eye and the reciprocal path of the needle arranged closest to the looper eye when the looper is at its extreme loop seizing position.

Abstract: A device for automatically supplying a strip of elastic tape material to a sewing machine under tension. The device uniquely combines a tape supply mechanism, for tractively propelling the tape, and a tape tensioning assembly which guides the tape along a predetermined path of travel while measuring the amount or degree of tape tension. The tape supplied is under the control of the tape tensioning apparatus which may include a mechanism for selectively modulating the degree of tape tension.
