    Abstract: The present technology discloses smart labels to monitor physical parameters, and for traceability and authentication of objects, documents or people. This active and multifunctional label is based on spectrally and spatially multiplexed Quick Response (QR) codes (A). Spectrally selectivity is achieved using luminescent materials and spatially multiplexing is achieved using different patterns (B) combining both to design improved QR codes able to store information at different layers of accessibility. This brings advantages over the actual scenario of QR codes wherein the amount of storage information increases up to three times, adding the capability to sense physical parameters and allow to control the provided information, creating public and restricted access. To access and read the content of each layer, different illumination is used (C) to (E) and is processed using a device or via dedicated applications.

    Abstract: A passive sensor network constituted by a reader (5), wireless energy emitters (2), and fully passive sensors (1) is described. The passive sensors allow continuously the data collection and transfer thereof whenever requested by the reader, via backscatter at a frequency (4), and in parallel the reception of energy from the transmitters (3). Each sensor integrates an antenna, two impedance matching networks, a semiconductor, a microcontroller and one or more sensors that do not require the use of their own power supply or batteries. The reader (remote unit) initiates the communication process. This communication is achieved by sending radio frequency commands recognized by the passive sensors. These sensors, upon receiving the commands from the reader, initiate the back transmission of data according to the received command. The power transmitters are used to allow continuous power supply of the passive sensors.

    Abstract: The present invention describes a low-cost, portable multi-parameter, turbidity sensor based on optical fiber. The sensor quantifies the transmission and scattering of radiation (nephelometry) in a fluid through radiation emission in two or more wavelengths. Inc invention can be used to estimate concentration of suspended sediments, to distinguish the type of sediment based on color, to distinguish different particle-size classes, and to identify and determine the concentrations of different suspended-sediment fractions.     Abstract: The present invention relates to a winemaking process using the traditional method of vinification except that, after fermentation, a chitosan-based film is placed in contact with the wine and no sulfur dioxide is added. The present invention also relates to a process for preparation of a chitosan-based film by modification of the chitosan with natural compounds, which allows to produce chitosan films stable in acidic medium, with high antioxidant activity, while maintaining the antimicrobial activity. In one embodiment, the films are prepared by covalent linkage to the chitosan of molecules, such as genipin, which results in decreasing its solubility in acidic medium, and also of molecules with high antioxidant activity, such as caffeic acid, or grape and wine extracts rich in compounds with antioxidant activity.
