  • Patent number: 7669290
Abstract: Described is an anti-vibratory handle for installation on a reciprocating tool supplied with a pressurized fluid and producing vibrations in the direction of an axis of reciprocation of the tool. The anti-vibratory handle comprises a stationary portion mounted to a body of the tool, a mobile portion comprising a hand-grip member and an articulation between the stationary and mobile portions. This articulation comprises a pivot assembly interconnecting the stationary and mobile portions, the pivot assembly defines a pivot axis substantially perpendicular to the tool reciprocation axis, and the hand-grip member of the mobile portion is spaced apart from both the pivot axis and the tool reciprocation axis. The articulation also comprises a resilient vibration-damping assembly interposed between the stationary and mobile portions to avoid transmission of vibrations through the articulation.

  • Publication number: 20080317200
Abstract: A method for single photon counting transmission computed tomography (CT) is described. The method is based on an apparatus consisting of a radiation source and detectors on an opposite side of the subject from the source. The radiation source is for example an X-ray tube. The detectors are independently connected to parallel, fast, low-noise processing electronics capable of recording and counting individual X-ray photons at very high rate. In one embodiment of the invention, said detector is made of a scintillator coupled to a photodetector. The photodetector can be an avalanche photodiode (APD).

  • Patent number: 7428851
Abstract: A sensor array for measuring various parameters in a machine environment, the sensor array comprising a number of oscillators, each of the oscillators comprising a feedback network, an amplifier and a limiter being connected together in a loop. The feedback network has a frequency which varies with the parameters to be measured. The amplifier consumes a current from a current supply and in cooperation with the feedback network produces a signal that alternates at the natural frequency of the feedback network. The limiter limits the amplitude of the signal within a predetermined amplitude range. All of the signals from the oscillators are multiplexed onto the output of the sensor array. Frequency analysis may then used to isolate the individual readings from each of the oscillators.

  • Publication number: 20080134436
Abstract: The present invention provides a stretcher having a brake mechanism that can be selectively activated to influence the movement of the stretcher supported by an inclined surface. The brake mechanism of the stretcher progressively increases the amount of friction between the stretcher and the surface of which the stretcher is supported to reduce or stop movements of the stretcher. The stretcher further includes a pulling member influencing the position or the activation of the brake mechanism on the stretcher and high friction means associated with the bottom side of the stretcher. The present invention also provides a size reduction mechanism requesting limited storage space for the stretcher when not in use and a foot restraint to secure the feet of the patient on the stretcher and offer additional volume to carry additional material with the patient. A method for braking a stretcher on an inclined plane is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20070065756
Abstract: A process for producing a pattern in a radiation sensitive fluoropolymer resist, comprises depositing a layer of the radiation sensitive fluoropolymer resist on a face of a substrate. The radiation sensitive fluoropolymer resist is exposed to an electron beam to define the pattern, the resist then having an exposed fluoropolymer resist area defining the pattern and an unexposed fluoropolymer resist area. The exposed fluoropolymer resist area is finally removed by contacting the radiation sensitive fluoropolymer resist with an alkaline polar aprotic solvent system leaving only the unexposed fluoropolymer resist area on the substrate.

  • Patent number: 7041785
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel antagonists to a B1-bradykinin (B1-BK) receptor which have a good affinity and selectivity therefor, some of which being at least partially resistant to enzymatic degradation. The synthesis of the B1 receptors is induced during inflammation. Symptoms associated with inflammation (elevated hydrostatic pressure and plasma leakage or extravasation) have been observed in diabetic animal models (streptozotocin-induced diabetes (STZ)) as well as in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). The present inventors confirm the presence of B1-BK receptors in these two models. B1-BK antagonists abolished the vasocontraction induced by B1-BK in SHR and STZ, and reduced the glycemia of diabetic animals to normal levels.
