  • Patent number: 8039225
Abstract: Various embodiments include methods for diagnosing and treating medical conditions that involve an autoimmune response to connective tissue such as collagen found in organs such as the lung. In one method pulmonary disease and disorders such as Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) are diagnosed by analyzing fluid or tissue samples obtained from a patient for evidence of an autoimmune response to various types of collagen including, for example, Type V. One type of assay for evidence of an autoimmune response to Type V collagen comprises the steps of obtaining a fluid or tissue sample from a patient, contacting at least a portion of the sample with antigen to anti-Type V collagen antibody and monitoring the mixture of sample and antigen for changes indicative of the presence of anti-Type V collagen in the sample. Another embodiment includes treating pulmonary diseases such as IPF by administering a therapeutically effective dose of epitopes of various collagens including Type V collagen.

  • Publication number: 20110233139
Abstract: A process for treating impure water includes adding magnesium hydroxide and/or ammonium hydroxide to the water. This neutralizes the impure water and reacts with dissolved metals in the water. The metals are precipitated as metal hydroxides/oxides, which are removed from the water. Thereafter barium hydroxide is added to the water. The barium hydroxide reacts with dissolved sulphates to produce barium sulphate and, when magnesium hydroxide is used, with dissolved magnesium, to produce magnesium hydroxide. Barium sulphate and, when present, magnesium hydroxide are removed from the water. When ammonium hydroxide is used, ammonia is stripped from the water. Carbon dioxide is then added to the water. The carbon dioxide reacts with dissolved calcium in the water. The calcium is precipitated as calcium carbonate, which is removed from the water.

  • Publication number: 20110222651
Abstract: There is provided an inverter circuit which allows a single drive circuit to carry out both the tracking control for tracking resonance frequency fluctuations caused by load fluctuations, and the power control, thereby reducing switching loss. An inverter drive circuit part obtains a phase difference between output current and output voltage directed to a load circuit which is connected to a midpoint of two arm circuits of the inverter circuit, and controls a phase of the driving signal directed to each of the semiconductor switches in such a manner that the phase difference becomes zero or a predetermined value. This allows an operating frequency of the inverter circuit part to track a resonance frequency of the load circuit. In addition, this enables a current phase to be delayed with respect to a voltage phase, thereby achieving ZCS.

  • Patent number: 8019005
Abstract: A reception program maps, by PC mapping, the values of message data to symbol x, which describes the combinations of Mp carrier waves of Mc carrier waves with value-1 bits corresponding to the carrier waves to be transmitted, and receives the transmit signal created by performing transformation processing thereon to sample y. A matrix computing portion performs transformation processing on sample y? in a parallel form including an unnecessary signal component to symbol z?. A first decoding portion sequentially performs maximum likelihood value decoding on groups of M bits of symbol z? and finally decodes all of the symbol z? to symbol x?. If the symbol x? includes Mp value-1 bits, a second decoding portion handles the symbol x? as the final decoding result and if not, the second decoding portion performs maximum likelihood decoding on the entire symbol z? to obtain the final decoding result.
