Abstract: A device for non-contact measurement of blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) in a mammalian subject including a camera and one or more arrays of LEDs each having a first set of LEDs emitting near infrared (NIR), and the second set of LEDs emitting orange light located in an optical path adapted to transmit reflected light from a subject to the camera. A controller transmits a camera trigger to the camera, and is further coupled to transmit control signals to the one or more arrays of LEDs. A processor receives photoplethysmography (PPG) data signal values from the camera. The PPG data signal values are present in the reflected light and include pulsatile and non-pulsatile components. The processor determines SpO2 values from the PPG data signal values from the measured ratios of pulsatile to non-pulsatile components of the PPG signals.

Abstract: Focal and segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is a kidney disorder of unknown etiology and up to 20% of patients on dialysis have this diagnosis. A large family with hereditary FSGS carries a missense mutation in the TRPC6 gene on chromosome 11q, encoding the ion channel protein Transient Receptor Potential Cation Channel 6. The missense mutation is a P112Q substitution, which occurs in a highly conserved region of the protein, enhances TRPC6-mediated calcium signals in response to agonists such as angiotensin II, and alters the intracellular distribution of TRPC6 protein. Previous work has emphasized the importance of cytoskeletal and structural proteins in proteinuric kidney diseases. Our findings suggest a novel mechanism for glomerular disease pathogenesis.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to various devices, systems and methods of providing a restartable, hybrid-rocket system that uses Acylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) and compressed air containing oxygen levels up to 40% as a propellant. Alternatively, embodiments of the present invention includes restartable hybrid rocket system that uses a heterogeneous matrix of ABS and a solid oxidizing agent in addition to compressed air as a propellant. When the ABS is exposed to an electrical potential field, the electrical field's effect on the ABS produces localized arcing between multiple layers of the ABS resulting in joule heating and pyrolysis of the ABS. The pyrolysis produces spontaneous combustion of the ABS once the oxidizer flow provides a local oxygen partial pressure greater than two atmospheres at the surface of the ABS.

Abstract: An always-on, exchange-only (AEON) qubit is comprised of three two-level systems (e.g., semiconductor quantum dot or other spin encoded qubit) and can be operated at a “sweet spot” during both single qubit and two-qubit gate operations. The “sweet spot” operation is immune to variations in noise with respect to nontrivial detuning parameters defining the AEON. By operating at the “sweet spot,” both single and two-qubit gate operations can be performed using only exchange pulses (e.g., DC voltage pulses applied to tunneling gates).

Abstract: Systems and methods which provide a joint machine learning and game theory modeling (MLGT) framework for video coding rate control (RC) are described. A machine learning based R-D model classification scheme may be provided to facilitate improved R-D model prediction accuracy and a mixed R-D model based game theory approach may be implemented to facilitate improved RC performance. For example, embodiments may provide inter frame Coding Tree Units (CTUs) level bit allocation and RC optimization in HEVC. Embodiments provide for the CTUs being classified into a plurality of categories, such as by using a support vector machine (SVM) based multi-classification scheme. An iterative solution search method may be implemented for the mixed R-D models based bit allocation method. Embodiments may additionally or alternatively refine the intra frame QP determination and the adaptive bit ratios among frames to facilitate improving the coding quality smoothness.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for transmitting data between a source node and destination node connected via multiple paths of a heterogeneous network, at least one of the paths delivering packets with a non-deterministic delivery time. Data is divided into frames, each frame comprising a number of packets, where processing by the destination node of an information packet p is conditional on receipt of the data for any information packet i where i<p. A number of sequential transmission slots s, each for transmitting a given packet p of a frame, are allocated for each network path k. A set D of possible assignments of packets to transmission slots for a frame are provided. The method comprises determining an assignment x with minimum in-order delivery delay of said packets based on expected arrival times of packets to their destination and expected reordering delay for packets. Packets are then transmitted in accordance with the determined assignment x.

Abstract: A system for classifying a user touch event by a user interacting with a device as an intended key is provided. For different hand postures (e.g., holding device with right hand and entering text with right thumb), the system provides a touch pattern model indicating how the user interacts using that hand posture. The system receives an indication of a user touch event and identifies the hand posture of the user. The system then determines the intended key based on the user touch event and a touch pattern model for the identified hand posture. A system is also provided for determining the amount a presser a user is applying to the device based on dampening of vibrations as measured by an inertial sensor. A system is provided that uses motion of the device as measured by an inertial sensor to improve the accuracy of text entry.
