Abstract: A manufacturing method of a sensor device integrated with ultrasonic transducer and microphone is to form a first support structure, a back plate, a second support structure, a membrane and electrodes on a substrate. The substrate is divided into a first region and a second region. The first electrode, the third electrode, a part of the back plate, a part of the second support structure and a part of the membrane that are above the first region form the ultrasonic transducer. The first support structure, the second electrode, the fourth electrode, a part of the back plate, a part of the second support structure and a part of the membrane that are above the second region form the microphone. The ultrasonic transducer and the microphone are simultaneously manufactured.

Abstract: GB1 peptidic compounds that specifically bind to a hemagglutinin target protein, and libraries that include the same, as well as methods of making and using the same, are provided. Also provided are methods and compositions for making and using the compounds. Also provided are hemagglutinin mimics and fragments and methods of using the same, including methods of screening for GB1 peptidic compounds and methods of using conjugates the mimics as influenza A vaccines. Aspects of the invention include methods of screening libraries of L-peptidic compounds for specific binding to a D-peptidic hemagglutinin target protein. Once a L-peptidic compound has been identified that specifically binds to the D-peptidic hemagglutinin target protein, the D-enantiomer of the selected L-peptidic compound may be produced. In some embodiments, the D-enantiomer of the selected L-peptidic compound binds to, and in some instances, neutralizes influenza virus particles.

Abstract: The invention provides a system and method for integrating multimedia descriptions in a way that allows humans, software components or devices to easily identify, represent, manage, retrieve, and categorize the multimedia content. In this manner, a user who may be interested in locating a specific piece of multimedia content from a database, Internet, or broadcast media, for example, may search for and find the multimedia content. In this regard, the invention provides a system and method that receives multimedia content and separates the multimedia content into separate components which are assigned to multimedia categories, such as image, video, audio, synthetic and text. Within each of the multimedia categories, the multimedia content is classified and descriptions of the multimedia content are generated. The descriptions are then formatted, integrated, using a multimedia integration description scheme, and the multimedia integration description is generated for the multimedia content.

Abstract: Systems, methods and instrumentalities are disclosed for superposed signaling for bandwidth efficiency in wireless communications. Homogeneous and heterogeneous signals may be superposed on the same channel. Superposed signals may comprise, for example, multi carrier, frequency division and code division signals, including multiple access, e.g., OFDMA and CDMA, signals. Data for various receivers may be dynamically selected for signal superpositioning, for example, based on radio access technology, communication rate (e.g. high and low rates), distance between transmitter and receiver (e.g. near and far signals). Communication rate and power may be allocated to superposed signals. Interference nulling may be applied, for example, by selecting or excluding spreading codes and/or subcarriers. Nulled locations may be used to transmit critical information. Interference shaping may be applied to modify interference, e.g., by transmitting interference symbols using reserved spreading codes. Support information, e.

Abstract: A vertical type light emitting diode includes a nitride semiconductor having a p-n conjunction structure with a transparent material layer formed on a p type clad layer, the transparent material layer having a refractive index different from that of the p type clad layer and having a pattern structure of mesh, punched plate, or one-dimensional grid form, etc. A reflective metal electrode layer is formed on the transparent material layer as a p-electrode. A stereoscopic pattern is formed in the transparent material layer and the p-electrode deposited, and thereby forming the pattern in the p-electrode. Depositing the p-electrode on only 10 to 70% of the upper portion of the p type clad layer in an ultraviolet ray light emitting diode such that an area where the p type clad layer is exposed is wide increases the transmittance of ultraviolet rays through an area where the p-electrode is not deposited.
