Publication number: 20120154751Abstract: In one example of the invention a patient display is provided on which a fixation graphic or video is shown in substantially the centre of the display, and then target graphics or video are shown at different positions on the display about the centre. A test subject is positioned in front of the patient display a known distance therefrom, and a camera captures an image of the test subject's eyes, to allow gaze direction determination to be performed. The captured images are displayed to a clinician user by a controlling test application, the clinician making a determination based on the images as to whether the test subject saw a target graphic or video when it was displayed. The clinician user then makes an appropriate input into the controlling test application, which also logs the position at which the target image was displayed.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 24, 2010Publication date: June 21, 2012Applicants: University of York, Cambridge Enterprise LimitedInventors: Adar Pelah, Allen Louise Elizabeth, Slater Michael Edward, Jackson Andrew Robert

Publication number: 20120156731Abstract: Disclosed are methods and materials for assembling long polynucleotides from synthetic oligonucleotides. The use of synthetic oligonucleotides permits non-natural design of sequences. The oligonucleotides used for construction may be relatively short, according to practicalities of nucleotide synthesis. They are assembled using a ligase which is operative over a range of temperatures, i.e., is thermostable. The method and oligonucleotides are designed such that the melting temperature of the strands to be hybridized is set at a number of selected specific temperatures for each group of oligonucleotides to be hybridized and ligated. Hybridization and ligation take place at or near the melting temperature, so that each succeeding ligation is governed by a temperature that will prevent hybridization if any mismatches are present.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 20, 2008Publication date: June 21, 2012Applicant: The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior UniversityInventors: Yanyi Huang, James Berger, Stephen Quake

Publication number: 20120152229Abstract: A range hood capable of resisting draft is provided above a counter on the top of which an air-generation device is located. The range hood comprises an air-extraction hood that has a bottom provided with an elongate air-extraction slot for drawing air upwards. Besides, an air blow groove is provided in front of the elongate air-extraction slot for blowing air downwards. A long left upright plate and a long right upright plate are respectively provided below the left and right lateral surfaces of the air-extraction hood. Thereby, when the elongate air-extraction slot draws in air, an oblique airflow is formed. Besides, the long left and right upright plates are able to hinder the draft coming from lateral sides, so as to protect the oblique airflow structure. Consequently, an intact upwards-flowing airflow is formed to exhaust soot and harmful gases.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 1, 2011Publication date: June 21, 2012Applicant: National Taiwan University of Science and TechnologyInventor: Rong Fung Huang
