Publication number: 20090176002Abstract: The method of the present invention involves performing the deodorization step before the hydrogenation step and carrying out the hydrogen addition reaction under mild conditions effective to prevent the hardening of edible oil and trans fatty acid production, resulting in the production of processed edible oil having an enriched buttery flavor that is 100-fold stronger than the conventional hydrogenated oil with no unpleasant smell and a very low trans-fatty acid content. Further, the processed edible oil prepared according to the method of the present invention, even with the addition of only a small amount to conventional edible oil, food and feed products, is capable of providing an enriched buttery flavor without increasing the trans-fatty acid content or unpleasant smell and is, thus, useful as a substitute oil for hydrogenated vegetable oil.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2007Publication date: July 9, 2009Applicant: Ind. Publication number: 20090175683Abstract: Disclosed are an even-irrigation apparatus for an underground root zone and an even-irrigation method using the same for evenly supplying water into the root zone of a variety of crops. The even-irrigation apparatus includes a plurality of irrigators buried in the entire underground root zone, to directly and evenly supply water into the root zone. Once water is introduced into a pressure-reduction valve after passing through a main pipe, limb pipe and capillary pipe connected in sequence, the water is supplied to the irrigators by way of a plurality of diverged-capillary pipes. With this even-irrigation of water, unnecessary consumption of water due to adsorption of the water into the surrounding soil except for the root zone is minimized, enabling effective irrigation of water and even growth of roots of crops. Further, even nutrition throughout the roots enables balanced growth of crops.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 7, 2009Publication date: July 9, 2009Applicant: Kyungpook National University Industry-Academic Cooperation FoundationInventors: Kim Jin Hyun, Cho Doo ho

Publication number: 20090175622Abstract: Disclosed is a method fox allocating upstream transmission bandwidth so as to prevent Inter-Scheduling Cycle Gaps (ISCGs) from occurring in an N number of Optical Network Units (ONUs) by using an m number of wavelength channels for upstream transmission in a Wavelength-Division Multiplexing (WDM)-Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON). The method includes: grouping the ONUs to be allocated each of the m number of wavelength channels; and performing a Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation (DBA) algorithm in order for the grouped ONUs to efficiently use allocated wavelengths and time slots, thereby allocating each wavelength channel. Accordingly, by using a scheme of managing ONUs by each group, it is possible to more efficiently allocate bandwidth than the online scheduling scheme. As compared with the offline scheduling scheme, ISCGs caused by bandwidth allocation do not occur.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 20, 2008Publication date: July 9, 2009Applicant: Sungkyunkwan University Foundation for Corporate CollaborationInventors: Hye Kyung Lee, Min Young Chung, Tae-Jin Lee, Hyun Seung Choo

Publication number: 20090174440Abstract: A frequency-hopping pulse-width modulator is disclosed, which facilitates a switching regulator to use smaller-size inductive and capacitive elements, to have an improved power efficiency at light load, as well as predictable spectrum at different load levels. The improved modulator automatically determines the switching frequency of a switching regulator according to the load current delivered by the switching regulator from a number of pre-defined frequencies, which are all multiples of a fundamental frequency. By designing the maximum switching frequency of frequency-hopping pulse-width modulator in the MHz range, a switching regulator is able to use smaller-size inductive and capacitive elements. Light-load efficiency of the switching regulator with the frequency-hopping pulse-width modulator is also greatly improved as switching frequency of such switching regulator is reduced with decreased load current.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2008Publication date: July 9, 2009Applicant: The Hong Kong University of Science and TechnologyInventors: Tsz Yin MAN, Kwok Tai Philip MOK, Man Sun John CHAN

Publication number: 20090173935Abstract: The invented ink-jet printing method for the construction of thin film transistors using all SWNTs on flexible plastic films is a new process. This method is more practical than all of exiting printing methods in the construction TFT and RFID tags because SWNTs have superior properties of both electrical and mechanical over organic conducting oligomers and polymers which often used for TFT. Furthermore, this method can be applied on thin films such as paper and plastic films while silicon based techniques can not used on such flexible films. These are superior to the traditional conducting polymers used in printable devices since they need no dopant and they are more stable. They could be used in conjunction with conducting polymers, or as stand-alone inks.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 24, 2006Publication date: July 9, 2009Applicant: William Marsh Rice UniversityInventors: Gyou-Jin Cho, Min Hun Jung, Jared L. Publication number: 20090177637Abstract: A translation scheme translates DICOM content into a format compatible for storage in an NDMA relational database. The translation scheme employs a schema for indexing the DICOM content, and employs a mechanism for translating queries embedded in XML into SQL. The translation scheme translates DICOM compatible data into a tab delimited flat representation of the DICOM content. The flat representation is then translated into data compatible with a relational database format, such as SQL, and then into database insert commands. The schema enables capture of the DICOM information into relational tables. Methods are also provided to service XML formatted research and clinical queries, to translate XML queries to optimized SQL and to return query results to XML specified destinations with record de-identification where required. Methods are also provided to interface to NDMA WallPlugs, secured query devices, or GRID devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2009Publication date: July 9, 2009Applicant: The Trustees of the University of PennsylvaniaInventor: ROBERT J.
