  • Patent number: 5277547
Abstract: A twin motor fan unit is provided with two fan members mounted to parallel rotational shafts of a motor. The motor fan unit includes a rectifying plate to partition the fan members. The rectifying plate prevents turbulence at the rear faces of the respective fans that would otherwise be caused by mutual interference of the air stream leaving the fan. As a result, the motor fan unit enables an increased quantity of air to flow through the motor fan unit and also achieves a reduction in operating noise.

  • Patent number: 5240373
Abstract: An axial-flow fan to be attached to an output shaft of an internal combustion engine is provided with a circular resistance plate disposed between the fan and the engine housing. The resistance plate extends perpendicularly to a fan driving output shaft of the engine, while surrounding the output shaft. Air flow flowing against the resistance plate is deflected in the radial directions, deviating from the output shaft. This air flow turns back toward the upstream side of the fan, turbulent flow is effectively minimized, and the absorption power of the fan is remarkably reduced.

  • Patent number: 5230315
Abstract: An Otto-cycle engine in which the expansion ratio is set in the range 11:1 to 16:1, comparable to the expansion ratios of Diesel engines and which has a rotary valve mounted in the suction passage. The valve is equipped with a valve actuating timing-adjusting device. The valve is closed prior to the bottom dead centre of each induction stroke to set the expansion ratio higher than the compression ratio set under full load conditions. The engine further includes a knock sensor for sensing or forecasting knocking. Valve closure is advanced by the adjusting device in response to the output signal from the sensor to adjust the compression ratio of the engine.

  • Patent number: 5226783
Abstract: An axial flow fan has each of its fan blades provided with an integrally formed centrifugal element which extends substantially parallel to an imaginary plane containing a central axis of the fan. Some of the air flow passing through the fan collides against the centrifugal elements, which deflect the air in the radial directions. A disk-like air barrier is thus formed around the fan blades, whereby a countercurrent flow and circulation flow are eliminated. The fan efficiency is also improved.

  • Patent number: 5172939
Abstract: In causing a pressure head portion on the terminal of a branch pipe to be abutted and tightly pressed against a pressure receiving bearing surface formed in a through hole in a high-pressure fuel rail, the pressure bearing surface is formed in the shape of a spherical surface having a curvature radius (.gamma.) of 0.4D to 10D, wherein D is the diameter of the branch pipe. Since the branch pipe has such a spherical pressure bearing surface, a uniform surface pressure can be obtained should the branch pipe be installed in an inclined state, and such an inclination or eccentricity can be rectified by the shapes of the pressure receiving bearing surface and the pressure bearing surface to provide a uniform surface pressure.
