  • Patent number: 4282735
Abstract: A brake for bending sheet metal and including a bending leaf which is hinged to the workpiece clamping portions of the break by means of an integrally extruded, pin-less hinge. The bending leaf also is provided with an offset handle, so that the workpiece contacting portion of the bending leaf is of reduced size to fit within a previously formed portion of the workpiece. The hinge design includes interfitting protuberence and recess elements which are assembled by axial sliding movement, but which cannot radially disengage over the entire pivot range of the hinge, which range is sufficient to bend the workpiece over 90.degree..

  • Patent number: 4245534
Abstract: A sheet metal slitter of the type having a pair of parallel shafts journalled at spaced axial points and a slitter roll on each shaft, the rolls cooperatively defining a cutting nip. The invention resides in a bearing assembly with bearings cantilevered from a support element. The bearings are positioned, respectively, adjacent the pair of slitter rolls on the shafts to resist forces tending to separate the shafts during metal cutting. The support element is slotted to accommodate the cut portions of the workpiece without spreading or tearing and with substantially no bending.

  • Patent number: 4237716
Abstract: A brake for bending sheet metal includes upper and lower clamping members, with a pressure slideably mounted on the upper clamping member. A bell crank is advantageously provided with its longer arm being utilized as a handle. The bell crank is pivotally engaged with the upper clamping member and its shorter arm is coupled by a link to the pressure member. When the handle is rotated towards the clamping members, the toggle action of the linkage provides maximum force per unit rotation at the top of the stroke to securely lock the upper clamping member against the lower clamping member. A stop is utilized to prevent further movement of the handle once the link-shorter arm pivot point travels slightly past an imaginary line between the bell crank and the link-pressure member pivots. In one embodiment, the linkage is adjustable in length to regulate the amount of clamping force. The locking mechanism is coupled to the brake in such manner that it does not bridge the upper and lower clamping members.

  • Patent number: 3955456
Abstract: A portable saw table of extensible working length for cutting workpieces at various angles relative to the longitudinal axis of the workpiece, including an elongated main deck having an upper support surface and a boom support element projecting upwardly from said support surface. The main deck has front and rear parallel longitudinal edges, and at least one elongated top deck telescopically engages the parallel longitudinal edges of the main deck, this top deck having an upper work supporting surface above the upper support surface of the main deck. A saw supporting boom is pivotally mounted on the boom support element, the boom having a work-supporting surface supported at the level of the work-supporting surface of the top deck by integral downwardly depending flanges contacting the main deck.
