Abstract: A software engine has a base system in communication with service subsystems and test subsystems. The base system, the service subsystems, and the test subsystems are software applications that exchange data with one another while operating within the software engine. In one exemplary mode of operation, the base system receives outputs from the service subsystems. In another exemplary mode of operation, the base system receives outputs from the test subsystems that simulate the outputs generated by the service subsystems. An exemplary method of testing the software engine is also provided. Specifically, the illustrative method includes receiving an output during a service mode, switching from the service mode to a testing mode, and receiving the simulated output during the testing mode. The method steps may be performed by a computer executing instructions stored on a computer-readable medium.

Abstract: An exemplary system and method are directed t receiving a dial plan. The dial plan is parsed into a plurality of expressions. Then there is a determination of at least one expression element for each of the plurality of expressions. A rule is associated with the at least one expression element and the rule is added to an array of a finite state machine. A digit input is received. A match result is determined indicating whether the digit input matches a corresponding expression element of each expression available for consideration based on the applicable rule. Expressions are selectively removed from consideration based on the applicable rule.

Abstract: An apparatus for providing emergency service validation may include a processor. The processor may be configured to receiving a message associated with a registration event of a device to a communication session. The message may include a parameter having information indicative of a location of the device at a time of the registration. The processor may also be configured to determine whether the location of the device at the time of the registration corresponds to a location where an emergency service dispatch is supportable.

Abstract: An exemplary system includes a media content processing subsystem configured to provide a program guide including a matrix of cells associated with a plurality of media content instances, and a condensed program guide including a condensed matrix of a subset of the cells and at least one interstitial symbol representing at least one of the cells excluded from the condensed matrix. In certain embodiments, the media content processing subsystem is configured to provide a graphical user interface to a display for presentation to a user, the graphical user interface including at least a portion of the condensed program guide. In certain embodiments, the graphical user interface includes a visual indicator of the interstitial symbol indicating a matrix position of a cell excluded from the condensed matrix. In certain embodiments, the interstitial symbol is spatially insubstantial in the condensed matrix.

The selector object is configured to select one of the cells such that the cells in the matrix include a selected cell and at least one unselected cell. The subsystem is further configured to provide at least one image object within the at least one unselected cell. The image object represents the media content instance associated with the unselected cell. In certain embodiments, the image object includes a video content stream. A service provider may deliver the portal in an interactive programming guide sent to the set top boxes of its subscribers. The portal may be interactive such that subscribers may order or watch the content presented on the portal. A content provider may create or edit the portals and send the portals to the service provider. The delivery of the portal to the service provider by the content provider may be through an application programming interface.
