Abstract: A controller provides dynamic load distribution in a multi-tier distributed platform. The controller may receive a request at a first Point-of-Presence (“PoP”) with a first set of resources. The first PoP may be part of a distributed platform with several distributed PoPs at different network locations. The controller may classify the requested task with a priority, may determine resource availability, and may dynamically distribute the request by (i) providing the request to the first set of resources in response to classifying the task with a high first priority, and determining the availability of the first set of resources to be less than a threshold, and (ii) providing the request to a second PoP in response to classifying the task with a lower second priority, and determining the availability of the first set of resources to be less than the threshold.

  • Patent number: 10931604
Abstract: One or more computing devices, systems, and/or methods for commentary generation are provided. For example, a conversation, occurring through a conversation interface associated with a content item, is monitored to identify a tone of the conversation (e.g., users discussing a news article). If the tone deviates from a target tone (e.g., a negative tone of inflammatory comments, a low participation tone, an off topic tone, etc.), then intervention is automatically and programmatically performed for the conversation. For example, subject matter of the content item, information from external sources (e.g., other articles, social network posts, or website content associated with a topic of the news article), and/or programmatically generated information (e.g., topical statements generated by a neural network) are used to construct a comment. The comment is posted to the conversation interface in order to improve the conversation, such as to increase positive engagement by users.

  • Patent number: 10932238
Abstract: A user device parses system information block data, received from a first cell, to identify an upper layer indicator element, and determines, based on the upper layer indicator element, that the user device is in an EN-DC area. The user device causes, based on determining that the user device is in the EN-DC area, first display of a first indicator on a display of the user device, and sends a request to the first cell for a data connection. The user device receives, from the first cell, a message that indicates a second cell will initiate the data connection via a 5G NR millimeter wave connection. The user device causes, based on the message, display of a second indicator on the display of the user device for a threshold amount of time, and then causes second display of the first indicator on the display of the user device.

  • Patent number: 10929877
Abstract: Server side content impression progression tracking is performed using ping triggers and pings. A server generates ping triggers for content based on an impression list from a configuration provided by the content originator. The server sets different times at which the ping triggers are to fire during content playback. When media playback on a client reaches a time set for a ping trigger, the ping trigger causes the client to return a ping to the server to indicate that playback has reached the designated time. In this manner, the pings granularly track content viewership on different clients, wherein the granular tracking measures not only whether content was viewed or not, but also how much of the content was viewed. Subsequent content to a particular client can be customized based on preferences derived from pings tracked from the particular client.

  • Patent number: 10932097
Abstract: Systems and methods described herein provide routing determinations for MT-SMS-over-NAS in core networks that support 5G and legacy systems. A network device stores routing priority data for multiple short message service (SMS) delivery methods in the core network. The network device receives, from a first network element, a delivery request for a mobile-terminated (MT) SMS message directed to an end device and sends, in response, a query to a second network element. The query requests a short message service function (SMSF) address for an SMSF in the core network with which the end device is registered. The network device receives a response to the query and selects, based on the response and the stored routing priority data, an SMS delivery method for the MT SMS message. The network device sends, to a third network element, routing instructions for the MT SMS message based on the selected SMS delivery method.
