Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are provided to generate and transmit a request to obtain a resource object stored in a clustered network database that stores keys; determine based on a value of the resource object carried in a response, whether permission to update the keys is permitted, wherein a first value of the resource object grants permission and a second value of the resource object does not grant permission; determine whether any of the keys expired in response to receiving permission, wherein other network devices configured to update the keys are prevented from updating the keys while the network device is granted permission; generate a new key for each key of the keys that expired; and store the new key for each key; and release the resource object back to the clustered network database.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for detection of a network are described. A network list indicating a plurality of network identifiers associated with a mobile device is determined. Each network identifier identifies one or more access points for a respective wireless network. Locality information is determined based on one or more sensors of the mobile device. At least one of the plurality of network identifiers is selected based on the locality information. And a transmission of the selected network identifiers by the mobile device is initiated.

Abstract: Exemplary voice call payment systems and methods provide parties to a voice call with features for sharing sensitive information over an active voice connection supporting the voice call. An exemplary method includes a voice call payment system detecting, during a voice call between a user of a user device and a representative of a merchant over an active voice connection between the user device and a merchant device of the merchant, a request by the user to submit inaudible payment information to the merchant over the active voice connection as payment in a transaction between the user and the merchant, directing, in response to the request, the user device to acquire the inaudible payment information, and directing, in response to the request, the user device to transmit the inaudible payment information to the merchant device over the active voice connection.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide redundancy and failover for accelerating and improving the processing of commands across a distributed platform. A distributed platform administrative server distributes commands to different distributed platform points-of-presence (PoPs) for execution. The administrative server distributes the commands over a first set of transit provider paths that connect the server to each PoP. The administrative server selects the first set of paths based on different addressing associated with each of the paths. If any of the first paths is unavailable or underperforming, the administrative server selects a second path by changing a destination address and resends the command to the particular PoP over the second path. Some embodiments further modify PoP server operation so that the PoP servers can identify commands issued according to the different path addressing and distribute such commands to all other servers of the same PoP upon identifying the different path addressing.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for providing broadband network access to mobile devices during air travel. The system transmits a first signal from a phased array antenna towards an airspace. The system also steers the phased array antenna towards an aircraft within the airspace based on a determined movement of the aircraft, a device signal generated by a mobile device aboard the aircraft, or a combination thereof. The system also determines a frequency shift associated with a return of the first signal from the aircraft. Still further, the system determines a second signal of a different frequency based on the frequency shift.

Abstract: Techniques described herein may be used to enable a user device (e.g., a smartphone, a tablet computer, etc.) to access network services without having to be connected to a network (e.g., a wireless telecommunications network). A first user device may communicate discovery packets in search of other user devices to which the first user device may connect. The first user device may identify a second user device (as a result of sending the discover packets). The first and second user devices may obtain configuration parameters (e.g., a communication channel allocation, encryption keys, synchronization information, etc.) and may establish a D2D connection based on the configuration parameters. The D2D connection may enable the first and second user devices to communicate with another as though the user devices were connected to a wireless telecommunications network (e.g., via telephone calls, video calls, simple messaging services (SMS) messages, instant messages, etc.).

Abstract: A streaming device may broadcast multimedia content, such as television signals, to electronic devices in a customer premises. The device may include a tuner to receive a signal, corresponding to a number of television channels, and to extract a second signal corresponding to a selected channel. The device may include a media processor to transcode the extracted signal to a second encoded format. The device may further authenticate a destination device as a destination device that is authorized to receive at least some of the television channels, and receive, from the destination device, channel selection information that identifies the selected channel. The device may further include a communication interface to transmit the signal, in the second encoded format, to the destination device.

Abstract: Voice to text (VTT) call transcription technologies are provided. At least one server receives a request from a mobile device to initiate a transcription of voice communication of a call between the mobile device and another device. The server, responsive to the request, establishes a bridged communication session between the server, the mobile device, the other device and a VTT system. The bridged communication session includes the voice communication of the call that is exchanged between the mobile device and the other device. The VTT system converts the voice communication of the call in the bridged communication session to a text transcription. The VTT system sends the text transcription of the voice communication of the call, for example, to the first mobile device.

Abstract: In embodiments, apparatuses, methods and storage media are described that are associated with configuration of content subscription packages. In various embodiments, a subscription package management/selection entity (“SPM”) may provide a facility for configuring and/or managing one or more content subscription packages. The SPM may be configured to facilitate generation of subscription packages using one or more tiers. The SPM may be configured to communicate with a content consumption device to provide subscription package information for consumption by a content consumer. The SPM may also be configured to facilitate a consumer in selecting and/or purchasing one or more content subscription packages. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Abstract: An approach is provided for location-based TCP throughput predictions and carrier-assisted video rate adaptation, including predicting a future location of a user device based on one or more location parameters associated with the device, a user of the device, or a combination thereof, predicting a transmission control protocol (TCP) throughput for at least one segment of a multimedia file based on the future location of the device, and transmitting the at least one segment based on the predicted TCP throughput.

Abstract: A network device receives business logic for Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) policies and automatically generates a policy list based on the business logic. The network device receives signaling messages for user equipment and determines, based on the policy list, policy decisions that are responsive to each of the signaling messages. The network device further logs a decision flow associated with each of the signaling messages and corresponding policy decisions; determines, based on the logging, if the policy list can be structured more efficiently; and automatically updates the policy list when the policy list can be structured more efficiently.

Abstract: A device enables automated bandwidth on demand functionality for a user, associated with a network, based on a request of the user, and receives a particular schedule for the user and the automated bandwidth on demand functionality. The device generates provisioning commands that update bandwidth requirements of the network, for the user, based on the particular schedule. The device provides the provisioning commands to network resources of the network, and the provisioning commands cause the network resources to implement the updated bandwidth requirements for the user according to the particular schedule.

Abstract: A device provides, to a mobile user device, an instruction to increase a partition of a memory of the mobile user device, based on a determination that the mobile user device will not receive future software updates. The partition of the memory is accessible to a user of the mobile user device. The instruction causes the mobile user device to increase a storage space for the partition by a particular amount, and generate an indication of the increased partition. The device receives the indication of the increased partition.

Abstract: A charger and a mobile device exchange messages indicating that high wattage charging is supported over a bidirectional communication channel. After the message exchange, the charger sends a controlled output voltage and current to the mobile device over a cable connected between the charger and the mobile device. The mobile device takes an input voltage measurement that corresponds to the controlled output voltage after being passed through the cable. The charger or mobile device may then calculate a resistance of the cable based on a difference between the controlled output voltage and the input voltage measurement. Based on the resistance of the cable, the controlled voltage and current used to charge a battery of the mobile device is adjusted in order to avoid exceeding capacity of the cable.

Abstract: A device provides for display, to a first user device, information associated with a potential contact, and an option to communicate with the potential contact. The device receives a selection of the option from the first user device, and obtains, based on the selection, an identifier for a second user device associated with the potential contact. The device provides a communication request and the identifier to a message server to cause the message server to selectively cause a communication session to be established between the first user device and the second user device. An indication that the communication session is denied may be provided to the first user device when the second user device does not accept the communication request. The communication session may be established, without revealing the identifier to the first user device, when the second user device accepts the communication request.

Abstract: A set-top box (STB) determines an occurrence of a first STB error during operation of the STB, and identifies a first error code that corresponds to the first STB error. The STB maps the first error code to a first self-help video of multiple self-help videos stored at the STB, and plays back the first self-video via a display device coupled to the STB.

Abstract: Some embodiments set forth a control message header rewriting methodology. Incoming packets are inspected to identify control messages. Each control message is then inspected to determine whether it originates from a client engaged in a session with a server or from an intermediary node along the path connecting the client and the server. The determination is predicated on a comparison of the addressing provided in the control message header and the addressing provided in the offending packet header, wherein the offending packet is the packet that triggers the intermediary node to issue the control message. If the addressing differs, the header addressing of control message is rewritten using the header addressing of the offending packet. Otherwise, a session table lookup is performed to identify which session the control message is directed to based in part on a hash of the control message header addressing.

Abstract: An approach for remotely managing virtual network appliances (VNAs) includes establishing a management virtual circuit (VC) to a hypervisor running on a server at a customer premise, remotely deploying one or more VNAs to the hypervisor, and remotely managing the hypervisor and the one or more VNAs via the management VC.

Abstract: A device may be configured to determine a current state of each of multiple operator network devices that provide a service via an operator network. The device may determine an allowable event at an operator network device based on the current state of the operator network device and model information that models behavior of the operator network device for the service. The device may monitor events at the operator network devices during a session. The device may detect that an allowable event for the operator network device does not occur during the session. The device may determine that a fault occurred at the operator network device during the session based on the allowable event not being detected at the operator network device. The device may provide fault information that indicates the fault occurred at the operator network device.

Abstract: A wireless communication device may include a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card configured to store a subscriber profile. The wireless communication device may further include logic configured to detect attachment to a wireless access network; detect a non-activated Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card; receive a Protocol Configuration Options (PCO) message from the wireless access network; retrieve subscription status information for the SIM card from the received PCO message; determine whether the SIM card has a valid subscription based on the retrieved subscription status information; and instruct the SIM card not to initiate an activation process with a SIM Over-the-air (OTA) system, in response to determining that the SIM card does not have a valid subscription.
