Abstract: An exemplary method includes detecting, on a media content recording device, a media content recording conflict between a plurality of scheduled recordings of media content instances, and outputting, for display on a display device, data representative of a graphical user interface including a plurality of graphical objects representative of the plurality of scheduled recordings of the media content instances and at least one option configured to facilitate resolution of the media content recording conflict. Corresponding methods, systems, apparatuses, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

Abstract: An approach is provided for simulating a connection to a head-end system to enable execution of content and features of a set-top box. A simulation platform stores a plurality of control data signals associated with a head-end system. In response to a determined loss of connectivity to the head-end system, the platform invokes a head-end simulation process using the control data signals, including timing information, dynamic data and channel map data.

Abstract: In one of many possible embodiments, an exemplary system includes a driving directions subsystem configured to provide data representative of driving directions to an access device communicatively coupled to the driving directions subsystem. The driving directions subsystem is further configured to provide at least one selection tool to the access device. The selection tool enables a user of the access device to select a subset of the driving directions for printing. In certain embodiments, the driving directions include a plurality of driving steps, and the selection tool enables the user of the access device to select, for each driving step, between including the driving step in and omitting the driving step from the printing.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention may be used to provide an authentication and key agreement protocol that is more robust against base station, replay and other attacks compared to previously known systems. The nonce-based authentication and key agreement protocol provides security against such attacks while avoiding the problems that arise in systems that use sequence number counters on the home environment and mobile station-sides. In an embodiment, a nonce that is transmitted from the user to the home environment through the serving network, as well as subsequent values for the nonce that are derived from the initial nonce, are used as indices for authentication vectors.

Abstract: An approach is provided for metrics data collection for business transactions. An online activity (e.g., Application Programming Interface (API) call) associated with a business flow is identified. It is determined whether the online activity is a part of a transaction, wherein the transaction is defined according to a business rule. Status of the transaction is updated if the online activity is a part of the transaction.

Abstract: A device may receive information associated with a write operation to be performed on a storage volume included in a cloud computing environment, and may divide the information into a group of write frames. Each write frame may include a respective portion of the information. The device may determine information that identifies members of a replication set associated with the storage volume. The device may provide each write frame to each member. The device may receive a reply frame, associated with a write frame, from a member. The device may determine that the reply frame is a last reply frame associated with the write frame and may modify source information to form a modified reply frame. The device may provide the modified reply frame. The modified reply frame may be provided to indicate that the portion of the write operation, associated with the write frame, has been successfully performed.

Abstract: A method and system for notifying a destination when information within a database that is accessible from an LDAP server has been changed, e.g., information within the database has been added, updated, or deleted. The method and system persistently searches the database to identify change events to entries in the database. It is then determined whether each of the plurality of change events have been previously transmitted to a corresponding destination. For each of the plurality of change events that have not been previously transmitted to the corresponding destination, the method and system (1) determine a change type associated with the change event that has not been previously transmitted to the destination; (2) identify a destination to be notified of the determined change type; and (3) transmit, to the destination, a message containing information including at least the change type and the corresponding change event that has not been previously transmitted to the destination.

Abstract: A method, performed by a computer device, may include receiving an indication that a first user has acquired rights to access a digital content; generating a key for the digital content; encrypting the digital content using the generated key to generate encrypted digital content; obtaining a first passcode; and providing the first passcode and the encrypted digital content to a user device associated with the first user. The method may further include receiving, from the user device, a request for the key, wherein the request include the first passcode; determining that the first passcode is valid; determining that the key has not expired; and providing the key to the user device, in response to determining that the first passcode is valid and that the key has not expired.

Abstract: A method may include receiving, from users, information identifying items purchased by the users, the information including a price for each of the items, and storing the information in a database. The method may also include receiving, from a second number of users, additional information identifying items purchased by the second users, the additional information including a price for each of the items, and identifying a first item in the database that matches a second item associated with purchases by one of the second users. The method may further include determining whether the price for the second item is lower than the price for the first item stored in the database and updating the database to include the second price for the first item, in response to determining that the second price is lower than the first price.

Abstract: Systems and methods disclosed in certain implementations relate to identifying, by a processor, user equipments (UEs) associated with a base station, determining applications associated with the UEs; allocating portions of a bandwidth associated with the base station to the applications; and scheduling transmission of data from the base station based on allocating the portions of the bandwidth to the applications. Scheduling transmission of data from the base may include, for example, determining a particular application associated with the data; determining a particular bandwidth associated with the particular application; determining whether the data can be transmitted from the base station based on the particular bandwidth; and scheduling the data for delivery when the data can be transmitted from the base station based on the particular bandwidth.

Abstract: A mobile device includes a transceiver for performing wireless communication, a microprocessor for operating said mobile device, a near field communications (NFC) system for performing wireless communication independent of the transceiver and at a lower amount of power than said transceiver, a contactless front end included in the NFC system for receiving or transmitting signals with an NFC capable device, and a pairing system implemented in the microprocessor for pairing one NFC capable device with another NFC capable device. The pairing system configures the mobile device to receive a tag or a device driver from one of the NFC capable devices that are to be paired with each other; and transfers the tag or a device driver obtained from the tag to the other of the NFC capable devices in order to enable interoperation between the two NFC capable devices.

Abstract: An exemplary system includes a media content processing subsystem configured to provide a program guide graphical user interface (“GUI”) to a display for presentation to a user, the program guide GUI including a portion of a program guide. The media content processing subsystem is further configured to provide at least one navigation tool to the display for presentation in the program guide GUI, the navigation tool including a plurality of selectable options for navigating the program guide. The media content processing subsystem is further configured to detect a user selection of one of the selectable options and initiate a navigation to a location in the program guide based on the selected option. In certain embodiments, the navigation tool includes at least one of a time-based navigation tool and a channel navigation tool.

Abstract: A controller stores preference information related to an initial configuration of wireless access points (WAPs). Based on the preference information, the controller initially activates or deactivates the WAPs to form a wireless local network (WLAN). The WLAN is monitored and operation of the WAPs may be modified based on the monitoring of the WLAN. For example, the controller may monitor an activity level associated with an active group of the WAPs and may compare the activity level to a threshold. The controller may activate an additional WAP if, for example, the activity level is above an upper threshold, and the controller may deactivate one of the active WAPs if the activity level is below a lower threshold.

Abstract: Embodiments provide systems and methods having an engine that gives stateless applications attributes of a ‘stateful’ process. To accomplish this end, a ‘snapshot’ of a transaction at a given point is taken and persisted until receiving confirmation that the transaction is completed. The snapshot may be a snapshot of data flowing in a stateless messaging system. The snapshot is maintained until confirmation that all intended recipients to which the transaction relates to have completed the steps they need to for the given transaction. The snapshot may be formed into a message and reflowed to an intended recipient to ensure that the recipient receives the message in the event that the initial delivery is unsuccessful.

The device may receive an indication associated with running the application. The device may present, for display, the native homepage. The native homepage may include information associated with accessing the content. The device may determine that the content, associated with the application, is not current content. The device may obtain the current content, associated with the application, based on determining that the content is not the current content. The device may store the current content based on obtaining the current content. The device may load the current content based on storing the current content. The current content may be loaded to prepare the current content to be displayed to a user.

Abstract: A device may receive a packet that includes priority information that is based on a priority assigned to bits included in the packet. The priority may be assigned based on scalable code used to encode the bits for transmission. The device may determine that an indicator of network congestion satisfies a threshold, and may schedule the packet for transmission to a user device based on the priority information and the determination that the indicator satisfies the threshold.

Abstract: An approach is provided for offering communication services supported by a data network and a telephony network. A primary identifier is assigned to a user for access to the communication services, wherein the primary identifier is used by a party seeking to communicate with the user via one of the communication services. The primary identifier is mapped to one of a plurality of secondary identifiers corresponding to the respective communication services. The one secondary identifier is used by at least one of the data network and the telephony network to establish a communication session between the party and the user.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) provides for display, to a user, information identifying available over-the-top (OTT) services provided via voice-over-Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE), and receives, from the user, a selection of a particular OTT service of the available OTT services. The UE receives, from the user, information identifying a selected contact associated with the particular OTT service, and determines whether a particular UE associated with the selected contact is a VoLTE capable device or a non-VoLTE capable device. The UE provides a call to the particular UE, via a LTE network and an Internet protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network, when the particular UE is a VoLTE capable device.

Abstract: A method performed by a network device includes receiving a request for a service or an application and determining a type of the service or the application selecting a frequency band to provide the service or the application from among multiple frequency bands, where a selection of the frequency band is based on the type of the service or the application. The method further includes providing the service or the application on the selected frequency band.

Abstract: An exemplary method includes an adaptive media content presentation system detecting an interaction of a user with a media content program, generating a playing pattern associated with the media content program based on the detected interaction of the user with the media content program, and applying the playing pattern to at least one of a presentation of the media content program and a presentation of an additional media content program. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.
