  • Publication number: 20160255307
Abstract: Systems and methods for conducting a multi-endpoint video signal conference are provided. Conferencing endpoints are linked by pairs of a reliable and a less reliable communication channel. Conference video signals are scaleable coded in base layer and enhancement layers format. Video signal base layers, which correspond to a minimum picture quality, are communicated over reliable channels. The video signal enhancements layers may be communicated over the less reliable channels. A conference server mediates the switching of video layer information from transmitting endpoints to receiving endpoints without any intermediate coding or re-coding operations. The video conference can be integrated with an audio conference using either scalable coded audio signals or non-scaleable coded audio signals.

  • Patent number: 9398056
Abstract: Systems and methods for the pairing of room systems, and other systems that lack portability and a convenient user interface, to videoconferences are disclosed herein. In one embodiment of the disclosed subject matter, a user initiates room system pairing from his or her device. For example, the user can press a button on a remote control associated with the room system to set the system to pairing mode. The room system can register with a server that is controlling the videoconferencing system, which in turn can display the room system in a list of available room systems on the user's device. The user can have the option to select the particular room system, instructing the server to add the room system to the conference.

  • Patent number: 9380313
Abstract: The disclosed subject matter describes a new pattern description that can be part of an SEI message or a parameter set, and can be used to describe a temporal picture coding structure and associated bitrates and frame rates. The knowledge of the coding structure can benefit transraters, bitstream extractors, and digital video recorders. Decoders can utilize the coding structure information for example, to decode pictures in parallel, using multiple threads/cores.

  • Patent number: 9325989
Abstract: Disclosed herein are techniques and computer readable media containing instructions arranged to determine a bit allocation for a temporal base layer and at least one temporal enhancement layer. The techniques are enhanced to yield improved reproduced quality for the case where both a temporal base layer and at least one temporal enhancement layer is being used. An exemplary method for determining a bit allocation to one base layer includes initializing a bit allocation between the base layer and the at least one enhancement layer, determining a quality difference between the base layer and the at least one enhancement layer, expressed, for example, in the Quantizer Parameter of the last picture of each layer within a GOP, and determining a new bit allocation between the base layer and the at least one enhancement layer based on the quality difference and at least one constant factor.

  • Patent number: 9313486
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for encoding and decoding layered video where the non-temporal enhancement layers and their respective temporal enhancement layers, comply with a scalable video coding standard or technology, and the base layer and its respective temporal enhancement layers does not comply with the same scalable video coding standard or technology. A Video Parameter Set that comprises information about the relationship of layers includes a syntax element indicative of the derivation mechanism for a temporal layer associated with a NAL unit coded in a first coding technology, for example HEVC. For one value of the syntax element, the derivation mechanism is to set the temporal layer of the base layer NAL unit to the value coded in the header of the encapsulating NAL unit, which can be an HEVC NAL unit. For another value, the derivation mechanism is to imply the value of temporal base layer for the first NAL unit.

  • Publication number: 20160100015
Abstract: Systems and methods for resolving service initialization links in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments are disclosed. Specifically, the links includes information that does not identify the originating user and are only associated with the offered service, whereas multiple users may be using the same service. The systems and methods involve a proxy component at the server as well as a plug-in at the client. The proxy is responsible for obtaining the service initialization information, identifying the correct session, and forwarding the service initialization information to the corresponding plug-in through the session. The plug-in, in turn, is responsible for forwarding the service initialization data back to the main application.
