Abstract: A probe for an optical measurement system includes a probe body arranged to be adjustably mounted in a measuring machine for optically measuring a test object. A single mode fiber optically coupled within the probe body transmits a source beam having an instantaneous or sequentially established bandwidth spanning a range of wavelengths to the probe body and also transmits a measurement beam from the probe body toward a detector. An adjustable beam manipulator within the probe body spatially excludes portions of the reference beam over a progression of different size portions from being focused within the acceptance cone of the single mode fiber to more closely balance the intensities of the reflected object beam and the reflected reference beam within the measurement beam.
Abstract: An accommodating intraocular lens for providing a range of accommodative vision includes a deformable optic. The deformable optic includes a plurality of layers that have a progressively increasing hardness and/or refractive index characteristic from the outermost layer to the innermost layer to provide a range of accommodative power.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for testing the mounting of an integrated circuit on a printed circuit board using a ball grid array comprises directing an inclined laser beam from a line scan laser sensor at the integrated circuit, detecting the position of the lower edge of the integrated circuit from laser light backscattered from the integrated circuit and printed circuit board, determining through a trigonometric calculation the height of the integrated circuit above the printed circuit board following soldering of the ball grid array and comparing the height with reference data. The integrated circuit is deemed to have been successfully mounted to the printed circuit board if the height falls within a predetermined range.
Abstract: A device for relative positioning of two parts formed by a light support for an electroluminescent diode and a support element of this light support, comprising two pairs of interlocking reliefs, each pair comprising at least one recess on one part and at least one locating projection with a rounded form, mounted on the other part, each locating projection being intended to rest, in the assembled position, each one on the bottom of the corresponding recess in a corresponding direction of insertion. According to the invention, the positioning device is isostatic.
Abstract: An optical pen for an optical measurement system includes a probe body arranged to be adjustably mounted in a measuring machine for optically measuring a test object. A single mode fiber optically coupled within the pen body transmits a source beam having an instantaneous or sequentially established bandwidth spanning a range of wavelengths to the pen body and also transmits a measurement beam from the pen body toward a detector. A combination and configuration of optics within the pen body provides a more compact and efficient optical pen.
Abstract: Capacitive sensors and MEMS elements that can be implemented directly above silicon CMOS electronics are disclosed. A capacitive based sensor is disposed over a first predetermined portion of a wafer that includes at least a first ceramic element providing protection for the final capacitive based sensor and self-aligned processing during its manufacturing.
Abstract: An optical assembly of a light-emitting module, especially of a lighting and/or signalling module, for a motor vehicle, including an optical element, a frame; the optical element being overmoulded on the frame, the frame being shaped so as to make a mechanical attachment between the frame and the optical element following the overmoulding of the optical element on the frame.

Abstract: A power supply control device and a method for controlling the power supply of light sources, preferably light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The power supply device allows the thermal management of LEDs without requiring the use of a programmable DC-to-DC converter, but by systematically adjusting an automatic control value for the DC-to-DC converter used.
Abstract: A navigation system for a vehicle is provided. The system includes at least one processor programmed to receive, from one or more sensors, outputs indicative of a motion of the vehicle. The at least one processor is also programmed to determine an actual trajectory of the vehicle based on the outputs from the one or more sensors; receive, from a camera, at least one environmental image associated with the vehicle; and analyze the at least one environmental image to determine information associated with at least one navigational constraint. The at least one processor is further programmed to determine a target trajectory, including the actual trajectory of the vehicle and one or more modifications to the actual trajectory based on the determined information associated with the at least one navigational constraint; and transmit the target trajectory from the vehicle to a server.
Abstract: The invention proposes a lighting module for a motor vehicle, including a modulated intensity source of coherent light. The features of the invention make it possible to increase the safety of a device of this kind by employing more robust fault detection than the prior art. A method for controlling a device of this kind is also proposed.
Abstract: A polarizing optical article formed by selectively applying a conductive coating to a portion of a structured surface formed of a series of linear peaks and valleys.
Abstract: An eyelid position sensor system for an ophthalmic lens comprising an electronic system is described herein for determining at least one of drowsiness or sleep onset of the wearer. The eyelid position sensor system is part of an electronic system incorporated into the ophthalmic lens. The electronic system in at least one embodiment includes a power source, power management circuitry, one or more sensors, clock generation circuitry, control algorithms and circuitry, and an alert mechanism. The eyelid position sensor system is utilized to determine eyelid position and use this information to determine if the wearer is asleep or awake.

Abstract: A distance measuring apparatus includes: a light-transmitting unit that transmits signal light from a light source toward a target object; a light-receiving unit that has a light-receiving element and receives the signal light from the target object on an optical axis different from that of the light-transmitting unit; a distance measuring unit that measures a distance to the target object based on propagation time from light transmission to light reception of the signal light; and a compensating unit that, while either optical path of an optical path from the light-transmitting unit to the light-receiving unit or an optical path from the target object to the light-receiving element is fixed, compensates an optical path of the signal light by displacing the other optical path at the light-transmitting unit or the light-receiving unit.
