Abstract: A communication system for a vehicle comprises a mechanism for sensing a change in speed of the vehicle and a control device for sending a signal to a headlight activation circuit to modulate the vehicle's headlights based upon the change in speed. In particular, a headlight of the vehicle is able to be modulated as the vehicle reduces speed and/or is decelerating as it approaches an intersection. Additionally, the headlight of the vehicle is able to be modulated as the vehicle accelerates from a stopped position or reaches a certain traveling speed. The headlight activation circuit is able to modulate the headlight between an on position and an off position or modulate the headlight between a high beam position and a low beam position. Consequently, the vehicle is better seen as it approaches likely congestion areas such as intersections and slowing or stopped traffic and attempts to enter traffic.

Abstract: Systems and methods which provide data communication content delivery through a hybrid network implementation are disclosed. A hybrid network configuration may utilize a broadcast communication technique to deliver large amounts of data communication content to one or more mobile communication device via uni-directional network links and a uni-cast communication technique via bi-directional network links with the one or more mobile communication device to facilitate delivery and utilization of the data communication content. Data content delivery loss recovery techniques implemented according to embodiments of the invention utilize network links of the hybrid network other than or in addition to the uni-directional network links to implement loss recovery techniques such as a hybrid repeat technique, a hybrid retransmission technique, hybrid statistical feedback technique, and/or combinations thereof.

Abstract: An imaging system for a vehicle may include a first image capture device having a first field of view and configured to acquire a first image relative to a scene associated with the vehicle, the first image being acquired as a first series of image scan lines captured using a rolling shutter. The imaging system may also include a second image capture device having a second field of view different from the first field of view and that at least partially overlaps the first field of view, the second image capture device being configured to acquire a second image relative to the scene associated with the vehicle, the second image being acquired as a second series of image scan lines captured using a rolling shutter. As a result of overlap between the first field of view and the second field of view, a first overlap portion of the first image corresponds with a second overlap portion of the second image.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a lighting system including a primary light source producing a primary light beam in the direction of a conversion device that returns a secondary light radiation to an optical imaging system forming a projected light beam. A light sensor generates a signal corresponding to the light received by this sensor. The light includes a non-converted light part of the first primary light beam which is returned by the conversion device in the projected light beam and is reflected by an obstacle situated in the zone illustrated by said projected light beam. A control unit has modulation means generating a modulation signal for the primary light, and demodulation means for processing the signal formed by said sensor, and determines a distance between the obstacle and the lighting system.
