Abstract: A device and system for indicating the passage of a duration of time and a method of making the same. The timing device is able to be to be more, less or not sensitive to temperature. Additionally, the timing device is able to indicate a level or time of exposure to environmental attributes. The timing device is housed by a sheet body having a scale indicator, a unit indicator, a unit multiplier and a presentation window. As a result, the sheet body enables a user to quickly not only determine if an item has spoiled or a period of time has elapsed, but also how much time is left before spoilage or the time will elapse. The easy to read scale on the sheet body enables accurate judgments to be made on what to do with perishable and other types of items associated with the timing device.

Abstract: A communication system comprises a pointable range finder to calculate a distance between the vehicle and an object, a recorder for recording a status of the vehicle and a control device. The range finder sends a signal to the control device corresponding to the vehicle's distance from the object and the control device operates the recorder in a manner dependent upon the signal from the range finder. The recorder is able to record the event if the vehicle is an unsafe distance from the object. The unsafe distance is able to be a programmed distance. In some embodiments, the unsafe distance increases with an increase in speed of the vehicle. In some embodiments, the unsafe distance is determined by a programmable constant. In these embodiments, the unsafe distance is determined according to a speed of the vehicle, the vehicle's distance from an object and a pre-defined safe zone threshold value.

Abstract: To obtain an output image where contrast relating to the luminance of an input image has been adjusted. In an image processing method for adjusting the luminance value of each pixel contained in an input image, first, a closed region ?(x, y) made up of a plurality of pixels in the input image is demarcated as a target region, and the target region is moved within the input image by predetermined pixel units. At this point, a maximum value and a minimum value of luminance energy defined as a luminance arrangement in the target region are calculated, and difference data of the luminance energy is calculated (step S4). Next, the difference data calculated in step S4 is adapted to the input image to generate an output image (step S6).
Abstract: A system and process of gauging a camera suitable for equipping a vehicle. The system and process determines at least one value of at least one geometrical parameter of the camera, at least in accordance with an item of information that represents a parameter associated with an object detected by the camera, compares the determined value to a value of reference (?pitching_ref, ?rolling_ref, ?twisting_ref) of the geometrical parameter of the camera, and controls the geometrical parameter of the camera in accordance with the comparison, particularly by modifying the value of reference in such a way as to gauge the camera.
Abstract: Method for depositing a layer on a surface of a substrate. The method comprises injecting a precursor gas from a precursor supply into a deposition cavity for contacting the substrate surface, draining part of the injected precursor gas from the deposition cavity, and positioning the deposition cavity and the substrate relative to each other along a plane of the substrate surface. The method further comprising providing a first electrode and a second electrode, positioning the first electrode and the substrate relative to each other, and generating a plasma discharge near the substrate for contacting the substrate by generating a high-voltage difference between the first electrode and the second electrode. The method comprises generating the plasma discharge selectively, for patterning the surface by means of the plasma. Abstract: A prosthesis is provided, which includes anterior and posterior lenses spaced from one another and aligned along an optical axis, and an optic body supporting the lenses in spaced relation to one another to establish a chamber between the lenses. Optically transmissive primary and secondary fluids are contained in the chamber. Orienting the optical axis in a horizontal orientation for far vision positions the optical axis through the primary fluid. Orienting the optical axis for near vision at a range of effective downward angles relative to the horizontal orientation positions the optical axis to extend through the primary fluid and the secondary fluid. The prosthesis may further include an internal plate between the lenses, which may be offset at an oblique angle relative to perpendicular to the optical axis. Related methods are also provided.
