Abstract: A method of making a pair of spectacle lenses which may reduce induced binocular vision distortions where wearer and frame metrics and a lens class are inputted into a computer program, and the computer program determines the left and right lens front curve radius in which there is a substantially linear relationship between the rate of change of lateral vergence and degree of ocular rotation and then adjusts the left and right lens front curve radius and the left and right lens center thickness such that the lateral inter-ocular static magnification target value is between about ?3% and about +3% in the lateral plane and the stimulus to near vergence is within the wearer's vergence limits. The computer program then determines a left and right lens index of refraction and a left and right lens material and the generated lens parameters are then used to machine the spectacle lenses.
Abstract: A medical appliance including a medical instrument that is separable from an actuator support, the appliance including a connection and disconnection system including a connector carried by the instrument and including a guide for guiding at least one actuator rod retained elastically in the guide by a head, and a coupling endpiece carried by the support and including at least one engagement mechanism that is guided in rotation and that defines a reception setback for receiving the head of the actuator rod. Abstract: A disclosed device provides a trajectory detection and feedback system. The system is capable of detecting one or more moving objects in free flight, analyzing a trajectory of each object and providing immediate feedback information to a human that has launched the object into flight, and/or one or more observers in the area. In a particular embodiment, a non-intrusive machine vision system that remotely detects trajectories of moving objects may be used to evaluate trajectory parameters for a basketball shot at a basketball hoop by a player. The feedback information, such as a trajectory entry angle into the basketball hoop and/or an entry velocity into the hoop for the shot, may be output to the player in an auditory format using a sound projection device. The system may be operable to be set-up and to operate in a substantially autonomous manner.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus related to improving player performance for trajectory-based sports are described. In particular, sporting devices are described that can be utilized to improve player performance in basketball. The sporting devices can include a camera-based system configured to capture and analyze the trajectory of a shot taken by a player. The camera-based system can be configured to provide feedback that allows a player to optimize the trajectory mechanics associated with shooting a basketball. In one embodiment, the camera-based system can be used in conjunction with a training aid that is attached to a basketball rim. The training aid can be configured to improve the trajectory mechanics of individuals utilizing the modified basketball rim to practice their shooting.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method is provided for searching documents containing complex bodies of knowledge, such as patents and research papers. The computer-implemented method and related hardware and software provides methodology to interpret the intent of the searcher (the meaning of the searcher's query) into a MetaLanguage, including but not limited to the use of Fundamental Nature Attributes, Fundamental Action Attributes and Weighting of these attributes as it pertains to the intent of the searcher. The invention relates to semantic based searches. The same methodology that is used on the searcher's query is also used to mine and store the existing databases of patents and research papers into databases of MetaLanguage for the purpose of producing search results that better match search inquiries.

Abstract: In a method and device for improving image rendition by contrast and/or sharpness enhancement the sharpness enhancement is made dependent on the local average luminance value. A mix is made of spatially enhanced image signals is used, wherein for various signal differing spatial frequencies are boosted. The mixing factors for mixing of the boosted signals are dependent on a local average luminance value such that the distribution over frequency bands shifts to higher frequencies and sharper enhancement as the luminance value increases.

The universal charging detection device is provided for a charger that can be electrically connected to an electronic device via a universal serial bus (USB). The universal charging detection device includes a voltage output unit, a current sensing unit, a current level detector and a state machine. The voltage output unit is electrically connected to the electronic device. The current sensing unit can convert an output current into a sensing voltage, where the charger outputs the output current to the USB. The current level detector can output a detection signal according to a level of the sensing voltage. The state machine can order that the voltage output unit adjusts a voltage between a first data signal pin (D+) and a second data signal pin (D?) of the USB.
Abstract: This invention discloses methods and apparatus for providing pulsatile release of active agents via a punctal plug inserted into a punctum. A tube is provided which may be inserted into a cavity of a punctal plug. One or more pulsatile delivery units are arranged in a generally linear fashion within the tube. The pulsatile delivery units include a core comprising the active agent and an encapsulation layer around the core.
