Abstract: A process and a device for controlling a plurality of LED assemblies of an automotive vehicle, each LED assembly (Gi) executing a specific lighting/signalling function. The electrical power level (Pi) delivered by the electrical source is modulated according to distinct power levels (Pi) with relation to the function associated with each LED assembly (Gi) and temporary multiplexing is executed in order to successively transmit the distinct power levels (Pi) to the assemblies (Gi) over a multiplexing period (Tmux). Demultiplexing is effected and each distinct electrical power level (Pi) is selectively delivered to the LED assembly (Gi) concerned.

Abstract: A method of finding targets in a color image applies ratio space rich colored filtering to identify a band of pixels that form a transition zone from one rich color to another. This pixel band is reduced to a rich color transition curve. A set of transition curves with simple geometric and color properties for the entire image, can be compared to a database of target properties to identify a target in an image.

Abstract: The Ethernet extension system contains at least a signal and power conversion device, a conversion device, and a coaxial cable connected in between. The signal and power conversion device receives baseband network signal and electricity in accordance with PoE, and delivers the baseband network signal and electricity to the conversion device through the coaxial cable. The conversion device then provides the baseband network signal to an ordinary Ethernet network device. Baseband network signal and electricity as such could be delivered through a coaxial cable beyond the conventional Ethernet without additional configuration of power supplies or power sources, and without repeatedly modulation and demodulation, coding and decoding, or conversion of communication protocols.
Abstract: An image sensor having a pixel array comprises periphery elements formed over a substrate, an oxide layer formed over the periphery elements, an epitaxial layer formed in an opening in the oxide layer in a pixel array area, and a plurality of photosensitive elements of the pixel array formed in the epitaxial layer. Formation of an initial metallization layer occurs after the formation of the photosensitive elements in the epitaxial layer. The photosensitive elements can thus be formed in the epitaxial layer at a higher level within an image sensor stack than that of the initial metallization layer. This advantageously allows stack height and pixel size to be reduced, and fill factor to be increased. The image sensor may be implemented in a digital camera or other type of digital imaging device.
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to an arcuate liquid meniscus lens with a meniscus wall. Some specific embodiments include a liquid meniscus lens with a meniscus wall essentially in the shape of a conical frustum with portions of gradient thickness dielectric. Other embodiments may include a cylindrical shape meniscus wall. Embodiments may also include a lens of suitable size and shape for inclusion in a contact lens.

Abstract: A composition comprising a semiconductor nanocrystal including a core comprising a first semiconductor material comprising at least three chemical elements and a shell disposed over at least a portion of the core, the shell comprising a second semiconductor material, wherein the semiconductor nanocrystal is capable of emitting light upon excitation with a photoluminescence quantum efficiency greater than about 65%. Also disclosed is a composition comprising a semiconductor nanocrystal including a core comprising a first semiconductor material comprising at least three chemical elements and a shell disposed over at least a portion of the core, the shell comprising a second semiconductor material comprising at least three chemical elements, wherein the semiconductor nanocrystal is capable of emitting light with a photoluminescence quantum efficiency greater than about 60% upon excitation.
Abstract: This invention discloses methods of manufacture and use of an energized Ophthalmic Device with an incorporated Storage Mode for a power source, the method of manufacturing said device, and a method of activation that may restore the power source to an operational mode.
Abstract: A system and method for providing secure authorization to a device (800) that includes the steps of combining two or more security factors for authentication (805,807) operating at about the same time where at least one of the factors is a “tolerant” factor. By combining two factors analyzed at about the same time (805,807), the tolerance match required by the tolerant factor(s) can be reduced without reducing the overall security accuracy.
Abstract: A coordinate measurement machine having a feeler whose position is determined optically and a lens for use in such a machine and a method for making a lens for a coordinate measurement machine, having a flexible feeler having a sensing tip, positioned substantially at the focal point of the objective lens.
Abstract: An apparatus for treating an object, for example an object made of polymer for a light or headlamp of an automotive vehicle, comprises a vacuum chamber in which the object is intended to be placed; means for placing the chamber under vacuum; and ion bombardment means intended for treating the object, comprising an ion generator and at least one ion applicator intended to emit an ion beam. This apparatus comprises, in addition: a first airlock; means for selectively placing the vacuum chamber in communication with the first airlock and means for placing the first airlock under vacuum. The ion bombardment means are arranged outside of the vacuum chamber. The ion applicator is housed in the first airlock.
