  • Patent number: 11377994
Abstract: A method for exhaust gas aftertreatment in a gasoline engine and an exhaust gas aftertreatment system are provided. In the method, two catalytic converters arranged in the exhaust gas tract of the gasoline engine are operated in different states. A first three-way catalytic converter is operated in a slightly low-oxygen range, and a second three-way catalytic converter is operated in a slightly oxygen-rich range. Secondary air is furthermore blown into the exhaust gas tract between the two three-way catalytic converters. It is thereby possible to reduce the output of emissions of the gasoline engine to a great extent. An exhaust gas aftertreatment system is likewise explained.

  • Patent number: 11365664
Abstract: A method for controlling a return valve of an exhaust system and to an exhaust system with a control unit which is configured to carry out the method. The method is based on the object of avoiding an overpressure in the line system for urea solution as a result of a reduction in the injection rate. The method includes the steps of determining whether one or more of the following states are present during the operation of the exhaust system: a) an injection rate per unit of time of urea solution of the dosing valve is less than or equal to a predefined injection limit, b) a pressure measured by the pressure sensor in the line system overshoots a predefined first upper pressure limit (P2). The return valve is opened for a first predefined opening duration (?t1) if states a) and b) are present and at least one of the states has already been present for at least a predefined period of time (?ta). The return valve is closed after the first predefined opening duration (?t1) has elapsed.

  • Publication number: 20220170396
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method for leakage diagnosis. The method includes influencing the introduction of gas along a crankcase aeration line into a crankcase of an internal combustion engine and acquiring a measurement signal profile by an exhaust-gas sensor arranged in an exhaust-gas tract of an internal combustion engine. The measurement signal profile is characteristic of at least one exhaust-gas property of the exhaust gas. The method includes providing an expected measurement signal profile which is characteristic of the exhaust-gas property of the exhaust gas in the exhaust-gas tract based on the influence on the introduction of gas into the crankcase. Additionally, the method includes comparing the acquired measurement signal profile with the expected measurement signal profile and identifying that the crankcase ventilation line has a leak if, during the comparison, the acquired measurement signal profile deviates from the expected measurement signal profile by a predetermined threshold value.
