Abstract: A method for operating an exhaust gas aftertreatment system of an internal combustion engine and an exhaust gas aftertreatment system are described. The internal combustion engine has a turbine wheel, which is arranged in the exhaust gas line, of an exhaust gas turbocharger, and a bypass line which bypasses the turbine wheel and in which a three-way pre-catalytic converter is arranged. A three-way main catalytic converter is situated in the exhaust gas line. A NOx sensor is provided which measures the NOx fraction in the exhaust gas downstream of the three-way pre-catalytic converter. If the measured NOx fraction exceeds a threshold value, the three-way pre-catalytic converter is diagnosed as faulty.

Abstract: A metallic honeycomb body with channels through which a gas may flow, made up of layers of at least partially structured sheet metal, the layers of sheet metal having at least in subregions at least two different structures, of which the first structure, with a greater structure height (H), determines the size of the channels and the second structure has a much smaller structure height (h) between troughs and peaks and the form and/or the structure height (H) of the second structure being chosen such that a ceramic coating applied later may fill the troughs of the second structure on average to at least 10%, in particular at least 50%, of their structure height (h). With the honeycomb body according to the invention, more coating material per unit of volume is durably attached in a metallic honeycomb body without excessively increasing the pressure loss. • Publication number: 20200040862
Abstract: A method and a corresponding device are disclosed for starting an internal combustion engine designed for alcohol or a high content of alcohol in a mixed alcohol-gasoline fuel, including setting an early starting ignition time point in a first time period beginning immediately after the activation of the starting process of the engine. The rotational speed of the internal combustion engine is monitored and the number of the cylinder working cycles is summed during the starting process and, upon exceeding a predetermined rotational speed threshold value, the number of those cylinder working cycles is summed in which there occurs a rotational speed increase greater than a predetermined threshold value. The number of the cylinder working cycles is compared with predetermined threshold values and, upon reaching or exceeding the threshold values, the ignition time point is shifted starting from the early ignition time point toward a late ignition time point.
