  • Patent number: 11349736
Abstract: Example methods and systems for flow-based latency measurement for logical overlay network traffic are described. In one example, in response to detecting a first inner data packet associated with a packet flow, a first computer system may generate and send a first encapsulated packet via a logical overlay tunnel towards a second computer system. The first encapsulated packet may be generated by encapsulating the first inner data packet with a first outer header that includes first time information associated with the first inner data packet at the first computer system. In response to detecting a second encapsulated packet from the second computer system via the logical overlay tunnel, the first computer system may determine a flow-based latency measurement associated with the packet flow based on the first time information, and second time information identified from a second outer header of the second encapsulated packet.

  • Patent number: 11347536
Abstract: Architectures for computing clusters with enhanced scalability and fault isolation capabilities are described. The enhanced capabilities are enabled by partitioning hosts of the clusters into multiple storage domains of the cluster. Each of the hosts includes processing and storage resources. The resources are logically partitioned into a processing layer and a storage layer of the cluster. The processing layer includes a virtualized processing resource for each of the storage domains. The storage layer includes a virtualized datastore for each of the storage domains. The processing layer provides users with access to virtualized machines (VMs). The storage layer provides the VMs with access to virtualized datastores of the associated storage domain. The aggregated resources of the host computing devices within the cluster may be employed to instantiate the processing layer and the storage layer of the cluster.

  • Patent number: 11347576
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide methods for performing root cause analysis for non-deterministic anomalies in a datacenter. For instance, the method of some embodiments identifies a root cause for degradation in performance of one or more components in a network of the datacenter. This method collects and generates resource consumption data regarding resources consumed by a set of components in this network. The method performs a first analysis on the collected and/or generated data to identify an instance in time when one or more components, while still operational, are possibly suffering from performance degradation. The method then performs a second analysis on the collected and/or generated data associated with the identified time instance to identify a root cause of a performance degradation of at least one component in the network.

  • Patent number: 11347373
Abstract: Methods and systems to sample event messages are described. As event messages are generated by one or more sources, the event messages are stored in a storage queue. An event message policy that represents conditions for storing event messages in a sample log file are input. For each event message output from the storage queue, the event message may be stored in a sample log file when one or more of the conditions of the event message policy are satisfied. The event messages of the sample log file may be displayed in a graphical user interface that enables a user to change the event message policy.

  • Patent number: 11347518
Abstract: A system and method for sampling application programming interface (API) execution traces in a computer system uses feature vectors of the API execution traces that are generated using trace-context information. The feature vectors are then used to group the API execution traces into clusters. For the cluster, sampling rates are generated so that a sampling rate is assigned to each of the clusters. The sampling rates are then applied to the API execution traces to adaptively sample the API execution traces based on the clusters to which the API execution traces belong.

  • Patent number: 11349806
Abstract: Some embodiments use proxies on host devices to capture broadcast DHCP traffic in a network. Each host in some embodiments executes one or more virtual machines (VMs). In some embodiments, a proxy operates on each host between each VM and the underlying network. For instance, in some embodiments, a VM's proxy operates between the VM and a physical forwarding element executing on the VM's host. To suppress DHCP broadcast, the proxy for a particular VM monitors the VM's traffic to detect and intercept a DHCP discover message. When the proxy receives a DHCP discover message, the proxy retrieves DHCP configuration data that was previously stored on the host for the VM. In some embodiments, the DHCP configuration data is stored on the host for the VM during the installation of the VM in response to an administrator's request or as part of an installation script that installs the VM.

  • Patent number: 11349928
Abstract: Systems herein allow an administrator to efficiently enroll computing devices into a mobile device management system, even when those computing devices are offline and not connected to the system. A management server can include a console that allows the administrator to enroll an offline computing device by selecting an offline enrollment option on a registration record. This option can cause the management server to create a device record, indicating the computing device is enrolled. The management server can also create and save a provisioning file onto a storage device, such as a USB drive. Assets, such as graphics and applications, specified by the device record are also saved onto the storage device. The storage device can be physically connected to the computing device, at which point the provisioning file guides automatic installation of the assets and implementation of device settings and compliance rules specified by the device record.

  • Patent number: 11350290
Abstract: A system can include a network analysis platform that applies models to identify downlink interference at a network cell, such as at a base station. For a session at a cell, an expected performance with normalized downlink interference can be compared to an actual performance to determine whether the session is impacted. This can include normalizing channel quality index (“CQI”) and negative-acknowledgement (“NACK”) rate. Overshooting aggressor cells can be identified as the source of the downlink interference based on a useless overlap fraction exceeding a threshold. The impacted sessions and root causes can be displayed on a graphical user interface (“GUI”).

  • Patent number: 11343298
Abstract: Embodiments enable display updates other than a video stream in a graphical user interface (GUI) to be rendered, encoded, and transmitted exclusive of the video stream. A virtual machine generates a GUI that includes an encoded video stream and other display updates. A virtual graphics processing unit (VGPU) stack associated with the VM renders the other display updates of the GUI to a framebuffer. The rendered display updates are encoded and transmitted to a client for display. The encoded video stream, or a modified (e.g., reduced bit rate) version of the encoded video stream, may be transmitted to the client, such that the client can display the encoded video stream within the GUI. For example, the encoded video stream may be selectively transmitted to the client based on the performance capabilities of the client.
