  • Patent number: 6162326
Abstract: A process for draining a fibrous pulp web is preferably carried out on drum thickeners or disk filters. A suspension to be drained rests against a perforated first face, which is a part of the rotor of the drum thickener or disk filter, is transported from the suspension vat, and then arrives in a thickening region. The thickening region contains a second face, wherein the first and second face have a relative speed in relation to each other. The effectiveness of the thickening can be significantly increased by vacuum zones provided on the drum thickener or disk filter.

  • Patent number: 6129011
Abstract: A paper calender has a stack of rolls arranged one above the other. They form an upper stack and a lower stack with a common center roll. Additional center rolls are carried on levers that are capable of pivoting about axes fixed with respect to the frame, and are capable of being placed under load by devices applying force. These devices should be designed to be powerful enough to be capable of compensating for more than the total weight of the associated roll and the parts connected to it. As a result of the various possible settings for the line load, the finishing of the paper can be improved. A method is provided for operating a paper calender having an upper stack of rolls and a lower stack of rolls positioned below the upper stack. Each stack is individually capable of being placed under load by upper and lower force generators.

  • Patent number: 6086010
Abstract: Winding device and process for transferring a material web from a wound roll to a winding sleeve in a transfer region of the winding device. The process includes cutting the web in a cross-wise direction at a position upstream from the transfer region with respect to a web travel direction. In this way, a cutting line forms a leading edge and a trailing edge. The process also includes applying a double-sided adhesive tape along the cutting line, moving the cutting line into the transfer region, and increasing a web tension. In this way, the double sided adhesive tape is torn along the cutting line, which separates the trailing edge from the leading edge. The process also includes sticking the trailing edge onto the wound roll, and sticking the leading edge onto the winding sleeve. The winding device includes a cutting device that cuts the material web in a cross-wise direction. In this manner, a cutting line forms a leading and trailing edge.

  • Patent number: 6073865
Abstract: A process is disclosed that is utilized in particular in the preparation of fibrous material of used paper. Hot fibrous pulp friable materials, which are especially suitable for dispersing, are first formed in a compact, high-consistency fibrous material in the form of a plug. In a preferred embodiment, the plug of materials is pushed against a rotor that is equipped with pulverization elements. The pulverization elements remove the fibrous pulp friable materials and distribute them in a disintegrated condition in a processing chamber. In the processing chamber, super-heated vapor is supplied via vapor supply lines, which calefies the fibrous pulp friable materials, for example, by condensation.
