Abstract: A method for heating an exhaust gas aftertreatment component in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine. At the combustion chamber, a fuel injector for injecting a fuel into the combustion chamber and a spark plug for igniting a flammable fuel-air mixture are arranged. The internal combustion engine has a valve lift curve switching mechanism, which allows for a shift and/or change of the opening times of the exhaust valve. The method includes: intake of fresh air into the combustion chamber, injection of a fuel into the combustion chamber, ignition of an ignitable fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber when the piston is in a range of 10° KW to 30° KW after the upper ignition dead point, and opening of the exhaust valve when the piston is in a range of 55° KW to 95° KW after the upper ignition dead point.

Abstract: A head-up display for a transportation vehicle. The head-up display includes an imaging unit for generating an image, and an optical system for projecting the image onto a projection surface. The optical system includes at least a first mirror, a curved second mirror arranged adjacent to the first mirror, and a selectively reflective element configured in an optical path between the first mirror and the second mirror. The optical system is configured such that light emitted from the imaging unit is directed to pass through the selectively reflective element, reflected off the first mirror towards the selectively reflective element, reflected by the selectively reflective element towards the second mirror, and reflected by the second mirror towards the selectively reflective element, and passed through to be directed to the projection surface.
Abstract: A catalyst structure includes: (1) a substrate; (2) a catalyst layer on the substrate; and (3) an adhesion layer disposed between the substrate and the catalyst layer. In some implementations, an average thickness of the adhesion layer is about 1 nm or less. In some implementations, a material of the catalyst layer at least partially extends into a region of the adhesion layer. In some implementations, the catalyst layer is characterized by a lattice strain imparted by the adhesion layer.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for preparing or generating a training data set for machine learning to operate a vehicle component. Provided multidimensional data points are divided up in a first step by dividing up the plurality of data points into multidimensional clusters by using a cluster algorithm. Then a training data set is generated by selecting data points from the basic training data set. The selection comprises determining a smallest cluster among the plurality of clusters with the lowest number of data points. Furthermore, at least one subset of the data points of the smallest cluster is provided for the training data set. In another step, a subset of data points is selected from each of the other clusters for the training data set, wherein the number of selected data points of each other cluster corresponds to the number of selected data points of the smallest cluster.
Abstract: A method for actuating a vehicle steering actuator which is coupled to a steering gear, comprising: providing an end stop return function with which a first control variable for the vehicle steering actuator can be ascertained, on the basis of which a force that returns the steering gear in the direction of a defined position can be at least partially generated with the vehicle steering actuator; ascertaining whether the steering gear falls below a limit distance from an end stop; and if this is the case: actuating the vehicle steering actuator on the basis of the first control variable ascertained with the end stop return function, which control variable has a value above a threshold value; wherein, if the limit distance is not fallen below, no control variable is ascertained with the end stop return function or a control variable with a value not exceeding the threshold value.

Abstract: A system and method for safe decontamination of a vehicle cabin while passengers can be present are disclosed that uses and/or has at least one data storage, at least one processor, at least one infrared (“IR”) sensor, and at least one ultraviolet (“UV”) emitter having a beam steering module. At least one contaminated area in the vehicle cabin is tracked using IR sensor data from the IR sensor. It is determined if there's a direct line of sight between the UV emitter and the at least one contaminated area. If so, UV emitter is activated to target the at least one contaminated area and blocking UV illumination on non-contaminated areas of the vehicle cabin and areas temporarily covered by a passenger.

The method for determining a minimum inter-vehicular distance for a platoon of transportation vehicles obtains information related to a predicted quality of service (pQoS) of communication links between the transportation vehicles of the platoon; a speed of the transportation vehicles of the platoon; and one or more maximum decelerations of the transportation vehicles of the platoon. The method also uses a functional relationship between the pQoS, the speed, the one or more maximum decelerations, and an inter-vehicular distance to determine the minimum inter-vehicular distance.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for investigating an ageing condition of a battery (10) which is provided for power supply to an electric motor (20), comprising the steps of: determining at least one graphical progression of at least one operating parameter of the battery (10), checking the at least one graphical progression on at least one sinusoidal curve portion, if at least one sinusoidal curve portion is recognised, extracting the at least one sinusoidal curve portion, calculating an impedance of the battery (10) by means of impedance spectroscopy with reference to the at least one sinusoidal curve portion, and determining the ageing condition of the battery (10) with reference to the calculated impedance. The invention further relates to a computer program (30), a memory means, a control device (40) and a vehicle (100).

Abstract: Technologies and techniques for quality determination for a traffic system. First traffic parameter data is acquired from the traffic system, indicative of a parameter of the traffic system. Second traffic parameter data is acquired, indicative of another parameter of the traffic system, wherein the second traffic parameter data originate from a plurality of traffic participants. The parameter from the first traffic parameter data and second traffic parameter are obtained, wherein the parameter obtained from the first traffic parameter data is compared to the parameter obtained from the second traffic parameter data in order to determine the quality of the first traffic parameter data.
