  • Patent number: 4930040
Abstract: A current regulator for an inductive load especially for a coil of an electromagnetic solenoid valve. The current flow through the coil is regulated and compared by means of an operational amplifying nominal current value. The inductive load comparator is initially controlled by a first conductive diode. A second diode having a higher voltage rating than that of the first diode is rendered conductive whenever the nominal current value in an inductive coil decreases rapidly. The current regulator ensures that the magnetic energy in the inductive load remains unchanged when the nominal current value remains constant or changes in small amounts. When a rapid decrease of the coil current occurs, the second diode is rendered conductive.

  • Patent number: 4925254
Abstract: An anti-lock brake system for vehicles with an electronic system which regulates the braking pressure of a monitored wheel as a function of the wheel speed, so that locking is prevented. The system is designed so that each wheel has its own speed sensor, and both wheels of one axle are pressurized with pressure medium by means of a joint control valve controlled by the electronic system. This arrangement corresponds to that of a select-low regulation. To shorten the extended braking distance on roads with different traction on each side, which occurs with a select-low regulation, the control system is designed so that when a retard signal (-b) occurs, the electronic system does not switch as usual to "remove pressure", but, at least until the occurrence of a slip signal (.lambda.), the control valve is switched to the "maintain pressure" position.

  • Patent number: 4916390
Abstract: The invention consists of a toothed wheel which in conjunction with a fixed sensor measures the revolutions or the angular velocity of a rotating component. The toothed wheel is constructed as a coil spring mounted on a circular ring-shaped mounting device and moved around a pivot with the rotation motion to be measured. The coil spring consists of an infinite helix the windings of which are of ferromagnetic material. Since the coil spring is moved past the fixed sensor, the change of the magnetic field in the coil of the sensor causes the generation of an alternating voltage the frequency of which is substantially proportional to the angular velocity of the toothed wheel.

  • Patent number: 4903547
Abstract: An automatic activation apparatus for a differential pawl which is independent of intervention by an operator of a vehicle, the invention controls the energy supply to the actuator by means of a control logic with two signal inputs. The control logic is fed a wheel slip signal directly at one signal input, and via a break-delay timing element at its other signal input. The control logic is thereby designed so that, by the excitation of both signal inputs, it switches into a standby position and then into its active position only upon the excitation of its signal input connected with the timing element.

  • Patent number: 4887636
Abstract: Apparatus for continuously controlling an electrically-actuated solenoid valve which regulates the fluid pressure conveyed to a brake cylinder. The solenoid valve is designed for intermittent operation. A pressure transducer senses and generates an actual value signal, which is proportional to the pressure to be regulated. A set value generator produces a select set value signal. A comparator device generates a pulse-type control signal having a variable width repetition rate within a certain pressure range for the solenoid valve in accordance with the difference between the actual value signal and the set value signal.

  • Patent number: 4887513
Abstract: The present invention teaches a brake cylinder which is formed by a cylindrical housing and a cylinder base. The cylindrical housing and cylinder base are joined together by a bayonet connection and form a pressure chamber. The bayonet connection is designed pressure-tight, and it is located on the pressurized-side of a circular sealing element which seals off the cylinder base from the cylinder housing. The bayonet connection is thereby protected from the entry of detrimental environmental influences, especially dirt and moisture, and it can still be easily disassembled at all times.

  • Patent number: 4887067
Abstract: A warning device for a pneumatic vehicle tire. The device includes a measurement unit which is mounted at the rim or at the wheel and which is connected with the inner space of the tire. A contact element penetrates the rim and points towards the inner surface of the tire which is opposite to the running surface, and which can be activated towards the inside of the wheel by allowing the inner surface to run against the rim surface. By activating the contact element, a nearly pressureless condition of the tire will be recorded.

  • Patent number: 4861115
Abstract: An electrically-controlled motor vehicle brake system, which responds to fluid pressure supplied from a common source. The system includes an electronic control system to process information and issue brake commands. A brake cylinder, to apply and release brake pressure on each respective wheel brake, receives pressure from at least one solenoid valve, connected to receive pressure from the source. The pressure is communicated to the brake cylinder of each respective wheel brake upon receipt of a control signal from the control system. A brake power selector includes both a pedal-operated brake valve, connected on an input side to receive pressure from the source, and connected on an output side to a ventilation portion of the solenoid valve for modulating the brake pressure, and an electrical frequency selector is connected to provide an input signal to the electronic control system upon actuation by an operator of such vehicle during a brake application.

  • Patent number: 4824178
Abstract: An electrically-controlled fluid pressure responsive brake system, in which a solenoid valve is installed between a manual brake valve and a parking brake. The parking brake is equipped with a spring actuator. The solenoid valve can be positioned by an electronic system into an open position only when an ignition switch has been turned on and the brake system has been successfully tested by the electronic system. The test can be initiated by pressing the brake pedal all the way to the floor. The solenoid valve allows the release of the parking brake only if the brake system is intact.

  • Patent number: 4819995
Abstract: A motor vehicle having an anti-locking brake system and a drive traction regulation system. The vehicle has one drive axle and a non-driven front or rear axle and is equipped with a preferably four-channel ABS/ASR electronic system. The invention provides between the brake cylinders of the drive axle and the front or rear axle a double check valve on each side. Both double check valves are activated together by one brake line. This arrangement prevents the non-driven wheels of the front or rear axle from being braked undesirably when the drive traction regulation system of the driven wheels is in operation.

  • Patent number: 4817502
Abstract: A bidirectional flow communication passageway is provided by the present invention in a multiple-circuit fluid pressure responsive system on a motor vehicle to allow a gradual reduction of pressure in a parking brake circuit which is a part of such system. The passageway is restricted to limit such bidirectional flow to a predetermined level. The pressure reduction permitted is sufficient to activate a parking brake valve in such parking brake circuit when a defect occurs in an operating service brake circuit which is also a part of such system.

  • Patent number: 4817660
Abstract: The present invention provides a pressure regulating valve which substantially avoids shutoff noises. The pressure regulating valve is designed such that the opening process of the shutoff valve proceeds in two steps. The two-step switching process is made possible by the provision of a seal ring which slides on an activating piston which activates the shutoff valve. This seal ring acts upon a housing mounted detent and an activating piston mounted additional detent, thus creating an automatically acting additional surface area for the activating piston. This design also makes it possible to increase the safety function of the pressure regulating valve, by increasing the pressure medium activated surface area of the valve body for the shutoff valve without incurring higher work forces at the activating piston.
