    Abstract: Apparatus and method for quickly disconnecting a wetted parts subassembly from a paint spray gun wherein the wetted parts subassembly includes a spray tip, pump cylinder and piston and paint cup components including a pump housing cylinder support carrying the pump cylinder and having a pair of protrusions formed on a pump housing cylinder support, a frame having a pair of slots aligned to receive the protrusions when the pump housing cylinder support is received in the frame, a locking lever pivotably attached to the frame adjacent at least one of the slots and movable between a latched position wherein the pump housing cylinder support is retained to the frame, and an unlatched position wherein the pump housing cylinder support is removable from the frame.

The tool has a folding handle that may be positioned to a storage position adjacent the body of the tool, and which may, selectively be positioned to an operating position generally perpendicular to the body of the tool, with a locking feature to hold the handle in either of the operating and storage positions.     Abstract: A paint spray gun and range finder for positioning the gun with respect to a target surface to be sprayed. The range finder provides a user of the gun with information about the distance between the gun and the target surface, with different indications when the gun is too close, too far or distanced properly from the target surface to be sprayed. A visual or acoustic range finder provides visual or audible indications of the proximity of the gun to the target surface. One range finder has either a single laser diode and a beam splitter or a pair of laser diodes providing a pair of collimated optical beams which indicate distance to the target surface by the relative location of a pair of illuminated spots on the target surface. The spots may be offset when the gun is at the desired distance to the target surface.

    Abstract: A paint pump cart having a telescoping handle assembly including a paint pump frame having a pair of standtubes, a handle having a pair of extensions received in the standtubes, and a pair of knobs mounted on the standtubes. Each knob is rotationally movable with respect to its standtube and has a pair of internal ramps. The handle assembly has a bushing supporting and retaining the knob while permitting movement of the knob on the standtube. A pair of resiliently mounted projections internal to the handle extensions are movable by the ramps of the knob between a locking position wherein the respective handle extension is maintained in an extended position with respect to the standtube, and a released position wherein the handle extension is allowed to telescope into the standtube towards a storage position.

    Abstract: Apparatus and method for on-board lubrication of a paint pumping piston including a reservoir for lubricant and a lubricant dispensing mechanism for delivering a predetermined repeatable amount of lubricant upon manual actuation of the lubricant dispensing mechanism. In one embodiment, a section of tubing acts as the reservoir, and in another embodiment, the reservoir is formed by a transparent or translucent chamber located adjacent an aperture in a pump housing to enable visual inspection of the level of lubricant in the reservoir. A lubricant delivery piston is actuated by an extension thereof projecting through an aperture in the housing, and a lubricant discharge nozzle is located adjacent the paint pumping piston proximate a bushing supporting the paint pumping piston. A breather valve prevents a vacuum in the reservoir as the lubricant is dispensed.
