  • Patent number: 9744045
Abstract: An endoprosthesis for partial replacement of the human pelvic bone (B) in the region of the acetabulum and of the ilium (II), by means of which a single prosthesis provides a bone replacement and stabilization in the region of the acetabulum and in defective sections of the ilium (II). The endoprosthesis, is suitable for restoring one single piece, even for serious bone defects in the pelvic region, and for maintaining or reshaping articulation and mobility in this region. The endoprosthesis includes a first section having a first partially spherical recess that serves as a replacement for the acetabulum, and a second section for the contact elements on the ilium (II). The second section extends from the first section along an edge of the first partially spherical recess in a flattened manner and is integrally connected to the first section. A second partially spherical recess is provided in the second section.

  • Patent number: 9724117
Abstract: A medical sliding-shaft instrument having a first handle arm, a second handle arm pivotably mounted to the first handle arm, a shaft connected to the first handle arm and a slider coupleable to the second handle arm and axially displaceable on the shaft. The slider is removable from the shaft and is guided along a sliding path. A cross-pin couples the second handle arm to the slider and is received in a slot defined by first and second legs of the second handle arm. The first leg is a resilient tongue moveable transversely to a longitudinal axis of the first leg and outwardly away from the second leg. The second handle arm is positioned so that the cross pin lies in the slot. The cross pin is covered and held back by the first leg and is released by applying a force and displacing the end of the first leg.

  • Patent number: 9675730
Abstract: The invention relates to a joint prosthesis having a shaft made from a titanium alloy, in which at least the shaft is investment cast and has a body-centered cubic crystal structure. A titanium alloy having this crystal structure (known as ?-titanium alloy) has an advantageously low modulus of elasticity which is well matched to the physiological demands of joint prostheses. Furthermore, implementation as a shaped casting allows a complex shape to be achieved. It is particularly embodied as a femoral prosthesis for an artificial hip joint, which has an elongate shaft with grooves and sawtooth-like projections for bone anchoring.

  • Patent number: 9603972
Abstract: The invention relates to an implant with a coating (23) which releases silver ions in the human body and as a result has antimicrobial action. According to the invention, a first surface component of the coating (23) is formed by an anode material (25). A second surface component of the coating (23) is formed by a cathode material (26). The cathode material is higher in the electrochemical voltage series than the anode material (25). The cathode material (26) and the anode material (25) are connected to one another in an electrically conductive manner. Together with the body electrolyte in the environment of the implant, the anode material (25) and the cathode material (26) form a multitude of local galvanic elements. The antimicrobial action of the coating (23) is improved as a result.

  • Patent number: 9333089
Abstract: An intervertebral fusion implant for the fusion of two vertebrae comprises an upper bearing body for placing on a lower end-plate of a vertebra, a lower bearing body for placing on an upper end-plate of a vertebra, and a central piece arranged between the bearing bodies. The central piece comprises a claw coupling which, in a coupling position, couples the two bearing bodies in a rotationally fixed manner to each other. In an open position of the claw coupling, the bearing bodies are freely movable in relation to each other. The claw coupling is actuated automatically via a plastic blocking body which, in its initial position, holds the claw coupling open and, under a load transferred from one vertebra to the other vertebra, is slowly deformable until it reaches a final coupling position in which the claw coupling is closed. This results in the slow fusion of the vertebrae.
