  • Patent number: 4499001
Abstract: A cleansing composition is disclosed with household and personal care applications and comprises a monopersulfate oxidizing agent and a halide bleaching promoter, to which is added an effervescence promoting compound comprising a perborate salt. The resulting composition is operable and capable of effervescing at an alkaline pH, at which it is also a more effective cleanser. In a further embodiment, the above cleansing composition may include a colorant and a fade control agent comprising a compound providing a soluble halide ion for applications where it is desirable that the color provided by the colorant will fade within a given period of time. Small quantities of the fade control compound are effective, and do not disturb the desired initial color intensity of the solution provided by the colorant.

  • Patent number: 4498417
Abstract: A supply apparatus for the enrichment of aquarium water with CO.sub.2 is described. For the purpose of increasing the diffusion surface, several containers open at the base are arranged above one another along a gas inlet pipe to be assembled essentially vertically. The CO.sub.2 gas introduced into the bottom container displaces the water and subsequently fills the above-assembled containers in a cascade in a type of pneumatic tank. The thereby increased contact surface of CO.sub.2 /water effects a more rapid adjustment to the desired higher CO.sub.2 concentration. See FIG. 1.

  • Patent number: 4495314
Abstract: A vehicle useful in a denture adhesive composition, and the denture adhesive composition containing such vehicle is disclosed. The vehicle comprises a gel consisting essentially of a mineral oil, a polyethylene wax and sorbitan monostearate in an amount of from about 0.25% to about 2.25% by weight of the gel. Preferably, the sorbitan monostearate is present in an amount of from about 0.5% to about 2.0% by weight. The gel may optionally contain up to about 10% by weight of polyisobutylene. The addition of sorbitan monostearate within the above amounts appears to lower the viscosity of the gels, and provides notable improvements in extrudability when the vehicle is employed in denture adhesive compositions.

  • Patent number: 4478658
Abstract: A method is disclosed for sealing edible capsules comprised of telescopically engaged tubular capsule halves that define a junction seam between them. The method comprises adhesively applying against at least a portion of the seam a frangible, edible label adapted to cover the seam at the point of intersection therewith, and to fracture upon slight displacement of the capsule halves with respect to each other. In one embodiment, the present method comprises the preparation of individual labels, the application to such labels of a quantity of adhesive and the subsequent application of the labels to the capsule. In an alternate embodiment, the labels, comprising a film forming material, are directly applied to the capsule by the projection of a hot melt of the film forming material onto the capsule at the location of the seam.
