    Abstract: The present invention provides a barbecue grill assembly comprising an upper assembly and a lower assembly, the upper assembly adapted to receive a cooking chamber. The grill assembly further comprises at least one projection on one of either the lower assembly or the upper assembly, and at least one receiver on the other of said lower assembly or said upper assembly. The projection and the receiver are cooperatively dimensioned such that the projection is received by the receiver. The projection having a first portion and a second portion wherein the first portion is adapted to be biased into contact with an inner surface of the receiver. The barbecue grill assembly includes a lateral assembly, positioned proximate the upper assembly. The lateral assembly is adapted to receive an auxiliary work surface or a cooking burner. The upper, lower, and lateral assemblies are each formed from a plurality of tubular frame members.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a barbecue grill assembly 10 comprising an upper frame assembly 12 and a lower frame assembly 14. The lower frame assembly 14 comprises a shelf 50 and a plurality of lower frame members 26, 28 which define an interior space 40. At least one frame member 28 has an aperture 80. The shelf 50 has at least one pin 70 cooperatively dimensioned with the aperture 80. The pin 70 is received by the aperture 80 to connect the shelf 50 to the lower frame members 26, 28 and form the lower frame assembly 14. The shelf 50 has a perimeter that is cooperatively dimensioned with the interior space 40 such that the shelf 50 is positioned within the interior space 40. The shelf 50 provides structural integrity to the lower assembly 14 such that the lower assembly 14 can support the upper assembly 12 and the cooking chamber 16.

A transition wall 40 is positioned between the first portion 16 and the second portion 18. A duct 46 depends from a lower surface 48 of the first portion 16. The duct 46 has an end 47 that is cooperatively positioned with the aperture 30 to form a passageway or channel 50. The passageway 50 is adapted to permit the drainage of grease and other byproducts generated by cooking food on the assembly 12 past a plurality of burner tubes and to a lower portion of the cooking chamber 14.

    Abstract: The present invention-provides a welded-frame assembly of a barbecue gas grill, or an accessory cart. The frame assembly comprises a plurality of elongated support members and a plurality of elongated channel members having at least a portion of generally U-shaped cross section and including an inner welding surface and an outer cosmetic surface. The channel members are disposed transverse to the support members and arranged such that their ends abut against the support members. A plurality of weld joints are each disposed on the inner welding surface of the channel members and a portion of the support members. The weld joints provide attachment of the support members and the channel members to form the welded frame assembly without substantial discoloration of the outer cosmetic surfaces of the channel members. Furthermore, the weld joints are substantially concealed for aesthetic purposes.

The present invention alternatively provides a work surface being a slidable burner cover assembly for an auxiliary burner of a barbecue gas grill. The assembly includes a burner cover having a body portion disposed over the auxiliary burner in a closed position and a slide mechanism attached to the grill and the cover to allow the cover to be slidably moved from the closed position to a second position wherein the auxiliary burner is exposed from underneath the body portion of the burner cover. The slide mechanism also provides extended cantilever support for the work surface in the second position.
