Patent number: 7289039Abstract: A vehicle navigation system for use with a traffic information broadcast system which transmits traffic data relating to primary road segments and a communication system which transmits traffic data relating to road segments in a local geographic area. A broadcast receiver receives the broadcast traffic data from the broadcast system and stores the received data. A communication transmitter, when activated, transmits a data request to the communication system. A communication receiver receives the local traffic data from the communication system in response to the data request while a processor displays traffic information on a display screen corresponding to the received broadcast traffic data and the received local traffic data. The local traffic data includes both traffic information relating to local road segments as well as non-traffic temporal events, such as weather, and time-related events which affect traffic flow.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2006Date of Patent: October 30, 2007Assignee: Xanavi Informatics CorporationInventors: Manabu Kato, Deepak Ramaswamy, Sadanori Horiguchi

Publication number: 20070229540Abstract: There is provided an on-vehicle stereoscopic display device wherein the same graphics having different brightness levels are superimposed on display devices to represent the depth of a graphic. The device has a configuration such that information indicating a cross-sectional shape of a graphic to be stereoscopically displayed is generated, and based on the generated information indicating the cross-sectional shape, the graphic having the depth is transparently displayed from the front to the rear of the screen. It is, therefore, possible to provide the on-vehicle stereoscopic display device wherein levels of the depth of a graphic to be stereoscopically displayed do not depend on the number of display devices, there are fewer limitations over a position of an operator to watch the display, and the superior visibility is provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2007Publication date: October 4, 2007Applicant: Xanavi Informatics CorporationInventors: Takashi Nakahara, Shigeru Matsuo, Yoshitaka Atarashi, Hirohisa Miyazawa, Takashi Yoshimaru

Patent number: 7194356Abstract: A navigation system comprises a storage device which stores link data of each of links constituting roads on a map. As for a carpool link defined as a link allowing only a vehicle in which a plurality of persons are riding to pass through, the link data contains information indicative thereof. The navigation system searches for a recommended route from a departure place to a destination by use of the link data. If the links constituting the recommended route includes a carpool link, the navigation system receives an input of the number of person-on-board. The navigation system searches for a recommended route once again by use of the link data, from the departure place to the destination comprising the links passable with the number of person-on-board received by the receive step.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2004Date of Patent: March 20, 2007Assignee: Xanavi Informatics CorporationInventor: Katsumi Sano

Patent number: 7176813Abstract: A system and method for displaying traffic information in an automotive navigation system having a display, memory and a data receiver. The method includes the first step of storing in a traffic speed table in memory at least two speed threshold limits wherein each speed threshold limit represents a different traffic flow category. The receiver receives data representative of the vehicle speed on at least one road segment and compares that received vehicle speed data with the traffic speed table to determine the traffic flow category corresponding to the received speed data for the road segment. A visual indicator is then displayed on the display which corresponds to the traffic flow category for the road segment. The user is able to customize the speed threshold limits through a GUI. These speed threshold limits are further user modifiable as a function of weather, day of the week, road conditions, type of road, as well as other factors.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2004Date of Patent: February 13, 2007Assignee: Xanavi Informatics CorporationInventors: Yukihiro Kawamata, Deepak Ramaswamy, Kunihiko Kurami
