  • Patent number: 11001081
Abstract: Backing material is passed by a first heater to pre-heat the backing material. The backing material is then passed by a printing engine to print marking material on the backing material, and passed by a first light source to apply ultra-violet (UV) light to the marking material printed on the backing material, to partially cure the marking material. Further, the backing material is passed by a container to expose the partially cured marking material to adhesive particles to cause the adhesive particles to adhere only to the marking material. The backing material is passed by a second light source to apply additional UV light to the marking material partially cured on the backing material to fully cure the marking material. Finally, the backing material is passed by a second heater to melt the adhesive particles that are adhered to the marking material on the backing material.

  • Patent number: 11006021
Abstract: A method for rendering a correlation mark on a recording medium can involve encoding a pattern based on a correlation effect color based on a color recipe that includes a high density of one primary color and a mid-to-low density of at least one other primary color, and adjusting the pattern to ensure that the encoding is lost in a resulting rendering of a correlation mark embedded with the pattern. The pattern imposed on the correlation mark is not readily visible in an original without a decoding key. The correlation mark can include a frequency that is sufficiently high so that a copy of the correlation mark may not reproduce with the pattern.

  • Patent number: 11001045
Abstract: A method and system of producing a three-dimensional object with an anti-counterfeiting measure uses a processor to access a data file including a plurality of parameters for producing a three-dimensional object, wherein the parameters comprise a plurality of structural parameters. The processor may also cause a three dimensional printing device to form the three dimensional object that exhibits the structural parameters by identifying a build material, identifying at least one anti-counterfeiting measure that when included in the 3D object will prevent creation of a digital model of the three-dimensional object by causing the 3D object to obstruct a possible 3D scanning method, and causing the three dimensional printing device to form the three-dimensional object with the anti-counterfeiting measure using the build material.

  • Patent number: 10999465
Abstract: According to aspects illustrated herein, methods and systems for retaining duplex scanning information in a scanned output file, is disclosed. The method includes receiving a document for scanning, having multiple pages, wherein each page has a first side such as a front side and a second side such as a back side. Then, a check for selection of a duplex scanning feature by a user, is performed. Upon scanning, an image data representing an image of the document is generated. The image data and the duplex scanning feature selected by the user is processed to generate a scanned output file. The duplex scanning information is generated, while generating the scanned output file. The duplex scanning information is retained in the scanned output file, for later retrieval and use. The duplex scanning information helps identify the first side and the second side in the scanned output file.

  • Patent number: 10999449
Abstract: A method for measuring a blur of a print job and adjusting printer parameters in response to the blur is disclosed. For example, the method may be performed by a multi-function device (MFD) and includes printing an image on a print media, scanning the image, calculating a blur count for each location of the image in a cross-process direction, determining that the blur count for at least one location of the image is above a blur threshold, and adjusting at least one print parameter for a subsequently printed image on the MFD.

  • Patent number: 10996903
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are configured to reduce energy use in a printing or multi-function device. They include monitoring at least one characteristic associated with operation of a multi-function device in a first mode of operation. They further include determining when a value of the at least one characteristic exceeds a threshold value and communicating programming information associated with operation of the multi-function device in a second mode of operation to a programmable network interface device when it is determined that the value of the at least one characteristic exceeds the threshold. The programming information changing the operating conditions associated with network communication by the programmable network interface device. The printing or multi-function device then operates in the second mode of operation based on the conditions associated with the network communication by the reconfigurable network interface device.

  • Patent number: 10999466
Abstract: A first pattern and the second pattern in an original include relatively lighter markings within a relatively darker background. The first pattern differs from the second pattern by including non-printing patches between the relatively lighter markings. When exposed to ultraviolet light, the underlying print media fluoresces in response to the ultraviolet light at the non-printing patches, revealing hidden security printing features. When a scanned image is printed on a second sheet of print media to produce a copy of the original, the copy maintains distinct markings at locations where the relatively lighter markings and the non-printing patches appear because the spacing interval of the relatively lighter markings and the non-printing patches is at or above the minimum resolution of the scanner. Thus, when the original and the copy are exposed to ultraviolet light, both fluoresce the ultraviolet light where the non-printing patches appear in the original.

  • Publication number: 20210121947
Abstract: A method for printing a structure, the structure including a plurality of pillars. The method for printing can include ejecting only a first drop of a print material such as a liquid metal sequentially at each of a plurality of pillar locations, then ejecting only a second drop of the print material sequentially onto the first drop at each of the plurality of print locations. Additional drops can be ejected at two or more of the pillar locations to form the plurality of pillars. Ejecting only a first drop at each pillar location allows the first drop to cure (i.e., cool or dry) before ejecting the second drop. The printer continues printing while the drops cure, thus improving processing efficiency and increasing production throughput.

  • Patent number: 10990337
Abstract: In systems and methods, a print server receives an original print job in an originated format that is associated with a user through a network. The print server identifies potentially used printers that can be utilized to print the original print job based on a current physical location of a mobile wireless device associated with the user. The print server converts the original print job from the originated format into printing formats used by the potentially used printers to generate print-ready print jobs. The print server is adapted to send the print-ready print jobs to the potentially used printers through the network when the print-ready print jobs are created. A selected printer of the potentially used printers receives an instruction to print the original print job and the selected printer prints a received one of the print-ready print jobs when the selected printer receives the instruction to print.

  • Patent number: 10981742
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling curl in sheets between two transports includes a curved baffle placed between the two transports. A thin layer of high velocity air is applied to the curved baffle. The high velocity air layer, which will have a tendency to follow the curved baffle (Coanda effect), will divert sheets (Bernoulli effect) towards the curved baffle. By positioning the curved baffle between the two transports and by applying a uniform air stream to it, a lower pressure area will be created. This will flatten the trajectory of the sheets and ensure acquisition by the downstream transport.
