Abstract: A method of operating a printer enables compensation parameters to be generated and stored in association with system conditions detected at the time of the compensation parameter generation. Upon detection of corresponding system conditions at a later time, the printer is able to use the previously generated and stored compensation parameters to adjust the timing of printhead ejections to improve the registration in ink images formed by the system.

The numbers of teeth included in the first, second, and third gears are Za, Zb, and Zc, respectively. Zb is not equal to the product of Za and an integer n. Zc is an integral multiple of a value obtained by dividing the least common multiple of Za and Zb by Za.
Abstract: What is disclosed is a novel system and method for mapping out-of-gamut colors to a device's gamut to improve image quality in a color document reproduction device involves performing the following. First, an out-of-gamut color xi, which is intended to be mapped to a boundary surface of a color gamut of a color marking device, is selected. A gamut mapping function is also selected. The selected gamut mapping function is intended to be applied to the selected out-of-gamut color point. At least one performance attribute is then selected for the color marking device and a multi-objective cumulative cost JT is determined based upon a combination of costs Jgm and Js. The multi-objective cumulative cost JT is then iteratively driven to a minimum. Once the minimum has been determined, a gamut mapping of the selected out-of-gamut color can then be performed using the minimized multi-objective cumulative cost. Various embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract: An image display medium including a pair of substrates, a transparent dispersion medium, one or more kind of colored particles and larger sized colored particles. The pair of substrates is disposed with a separation therebetween and at least one of the pair of substrates is transparent. The dispersion medium is transparent and enclosed between the pair of substrates. Each kind of the colored particles is colored a predetermined color, is dispersed in the dispersion medium, has predetermined charge characteristics or predetermined magnetic properties, and is able to migrate between the pair of substrates. The larger sized colored particles have a different color and a larger particle size than the colored particles, are disposed so that the colored particles are able to pass through the separation, have charge characteristics or magnetic properties which are different from those of the colored particles, and are able to move.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for detecting a region of interest in an image are disclosed. Image representations for a set of images that have been manually annotated with regions of interest are stored, along with positive and negative representations of each image which are similarly derived to the image representations except that they are based on features extracted from patches within the region of interest and outside it, respectively. For an original image for which a region of interest is desired, the stored information for K similar images is automatically retrieved and used to train a classifier. The trained classifier provides, for each patch of the original image, a probability of being in a region of interest, based extracted features of the patch (represented, for example, as a Fisher vector), which can be used to determine a region of interest in the original image.
