Publication number: 20120107031Abstract: An apparatus and associated method move a web of “input continuous media” along at least one media path of a continuous printing device. The method prints markings on the input continuous media to create a web of “printed continuous media” using at least one printing engine of the continuous printing device. The method holds the printed continuous media on at least one output media roll of the continuous printing device after printing the markings on the input continuous media. The output media roll is supported by an output media roll support. The method also determines when the output media roll comprises a “completed printed roll” of printed continuous media and is ready to be cut by a cutter of the continuous printing device, and the output media roll is ready to be removed from the output media roll support.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2010Publication date: May 3, 2012Applicant: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: Barry K. Publication number: 20120105877Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a determination unit and a restriction unit. The determination unit determines an image forming capability of each of the image forming apparatus and a different image forming apparatus, an image being formed on a printing medium that is transported between the image forming apparatus and the different image forming apparatus. The restriction unit restricts an image forming operation of the image forming apparatus when the determination unit determines that the image forming capability of any one of the image forming apparatus and the different image forming apparatus is to be lower than an image forming capability of the other one of the image forming apparatus and the different image forming apparatus when independently performing an operation to form an image on the printing medium.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 21, 2011Publication date: May 3, 2012Applicant: FUJI XEROX CO., LTD.Inventor: Jun WAKAMATSU

Publication number: 20120106835Abstract: Vector halftoning and error diffusion are combined to provide a quantization method that yields high quality rendered images while demanding fewer system resources. For instance, the method is tolerant of resolution reductions in secondary or auxiliary channels to the vector halftoning process. Accordingly, these secondary pixel data channels can be sub-sampled and/or bit-depth reduced for transmission bandwidth conservation and/or reduction in data storage requirements. Restoring the resolution of the low resolution channels provides estimated image data to arrange or align with high resolution target channel data for the vector halftoning process. Error from marking decisions generated by the vector halftoning process is diffused to neighboring unprocessed pixels. The method also allows for the use of a small vector halftone threshold array while providing quantized images with fine texture and wide color gamuts. In some embodiments error diffusion is distributed according to vector error diffusion.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 29, 2010Publication date: May 3, 2012Applicant: Xerox CorporationInventors: Edgar A. Bernal, Robert P. Loce, Peter A. Crean
