Abstract: An information processing device includes a lock section, a creation section, a transmission section, a reception section, and a release section. The lock section disables an authorization function of the information processing device under a given condition. The creation section creates a first lock release file that is capable of releasing the authorization function disabled by the lock section. The transmission section transmits the first lock release file to an information management device. The reception section receives a second lock release file, which is based on the first lock release file, from the information management device. The release section tries to enable the authorization function of the information processing device when the second lock release file is determined to be valid.
Abstract: A method and system for adding processes to print production workflows utilizing asset metadata and automated reasoning system is disclosed. The asset metadata can be extracted from the resources associated with a print product description such as PDF files and image and artwork files. The asset metadata can be processed through an automated reasoning system in order to infer additional metadata. The inferred metadata can be utilized to add and parameterize a process node in order to build a more effective and useful process network. The reasoning system can be a rule based reasoning system and/or ontology based reasoning system.

Abstract: A finishing device with an output unit that outputs a recorded sheet on which an image is recorded, a sheet stacker that receives the recorded sheet from the output unit and on which the recorded sheet is stacked, and a reference surface against which the recorded sheet on the sheet stacker is aligned. A binding unit binds a bundle of the recorded sheets aligned against the reference surface and a sheet pressing member presses an end portion of the recorded sheet toward the sheet stacker. The end portion is closer to the reference surface, and a first moving and pressing unit moves the recorded sheet toward the reference surface while the sheet pressing member presses the end portion of the recorded sheet.

Abstract: What is disclosed is a system and method for improving vector halftoning in ink-jet printers capable of dot-on-dot printing. In one embodiment, n input Ci/Mi/Yi channel and a colorant Ki are received. If any of the Ci/Mi/Yi is greater than 100?Ki then that channel is clipped to 100?Ki. Next, a minimum total coverage area of a secondary color RGB dot required to achieve a remaining CMY coverage area is determined. If the minimum total coverage area is non-zero, then the following steps are performed. Each of a primary output Co/Mo/Yo is determined. Each of the primary outputs is then scaled by a ratio of the remaining primary color area over the total remaining toner coverage. The results are sorted and secondary color RoBoGo outputs are determined from the sorted results.
Abstract: A job scheduling device that sequentially stores jobs, for which processing requests were received from terminals, in a queue and sequentially processes the jobs held in the queue using a job execution section having a plurality of queues provided corresponding to a status of a sequential job process, a scheduling unit that schedules the jobs using the plurality of queues, wherein each job has associated job information which includes job status information, and a recovery unit that recovers the status of each of the jobs being held in the plurality of queues.
Abstract: A method of making toner particles, including: mixing, at less than about 17° C. and without homogenizing, a resin emulsion with a coagulant, a colorant, an optional wax, and optional additives, to form pre-aggregated particles in a slurry; heating the slurry to form aggregated toner particles; freezing aggregation of the particles in the slurry once at a desired aggregated particle size; and further heating the aggregated particles in the slurry to coalesce the aggregated particles into toner particles.

Abstract: An image analyzer for detecting a target object from image data, includes a reference detection unit, a primary detection unit, a secondary detection unit and an output unit. The reference detection unit detects a reference object included in the image data. The primary detection unit detects candidates for the target object from the image data. The secondary detection unit specifies a portion including the target object from among the candidates, by using a correlation between a feature of the detected reference object and a feature of the candidates. The output unit outputs information representing the portion including the target object specified by the secondary detection unit.
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit that forms an image on a recording medium; a fixing unit that fixes the image formed on the recording medium by the image forming unit by applying heat; a first detector unit that detects a length of the recording medium in a transport direction, the first detector unit being disposed upstream of the fixing unit in the transport direction; and a second detector unit that detects the length of the recording medium in the transport direction, the second detector unit being disposed downstream of the fixing unit in the transport direction.
Abstract: The invention provides a liquid crystal layer in which an additive containing an aliphatic organic compound including at least one carbon-carbon double bond is added to a cholesteric liquid crystal in an amount of approximately 3 wt % or more and approximately 10 wt % or less.
Abstract: A document processing apparatus has an attachment unit and a storage. The attachment unit attaches a comment to an electronic document as additional information. The comment relates to a modification of the electronic document. The storage associates the comment with modified place information and stores them. The modified place information indicates a modified place of the electronic document, when the electronic document is modified based on the comment.
Abstract: A package of sheet media includes a stack of individual sheets of media and a packaging wrap extending at least partially around the stack. An outer wrap at least partially covering the stack and the packaging wrap can optionally be used. A method of loading the package of sheet media on a printing system is also provided.
Abstract: A solar cell includes a p-type semiconductor substance, and an n-type semiconductor substance. The p-type semiconductor substance and the n-type semiconductor substance form a pn junction or a pin junction, and the p-type semiconductor substance or the n-type semiconductor substance includes a structure film having a plurality of carbon nanotubes electrically connected to each other.
Abstract: To identify pixels constituting image elements for generating a labeled image in which pixels are labeled with identification information, a pixel block including four pixels adjacent to one another in two dimensions is inputted as a unit from data including pixels that form an image. All of the on-pixels that are subject for grouping, included in the pixel block are labeled with the same identifier. Since the on-pixels that are included in a pixel block are consecutively connected, such pixels can be labeled with the same identifier without having to calculate whether such pixels are connected.
Abstract: An image evaluation apparatus includes a pixel extraction unit, an intra-pair difference calculation unit, an inter-pair difference calculation unit and an evaluation unit. The pixel extraction unit extracts, from an input image, a pixel region including a pair of block-boundary pixels in a boundary position of coding blocks and a pair of non-block-boundary pixels in a position other than the boundary position. The intra-pair difference calculation unit calculates a difference between the extracted pair of block-boundary pixels as a first difference, and a difference between the extracted pair of non-block-boundary pixels as a second difference. The inter-pair difference calculation unit calculates a difference between the first difference and the second difference as an amount of block distortion of the extracted pixel region. The evaluation unit evaluates an amount of block distortion of the input image based on the calculated amount of block distortion of the extracted pixel region.
