Abstract: This closure provides image processing methods and apparatus for corner enhancing a digital image for rendering on an image output device. According to an exemplary method, the method determines whether or not image pixels are associated with a corner as a function of the USAN values generated for the image pixels. Subsequently, one or more pixels associated with a corner are modified to render a corner enhanced image.

Abstract: A modem transmission level and modem sensitivity which are communication control information corresponding to the connection form of each destination device are registered in advance in a destination information storage unit so as to be correlated with an abbreviated dialing number of the destination. When a communication instruction using an abbreviated dialing number is received, if a modem transmission level and modem sensitivity are registered in the destination information storage unit as corresponding to the received abbreviated dialing number, the modem is controlled based on those registered modem transmission level and modem sensitivity. If neither a modem transmission level or modem sensitivity is registered as corresponding to the received abbreviated dialing number, the modem is controlled according to a modem transmission level and modem sensitivity that are registered in advance in the apparatus.

Abstract: A dual screen electronic reader and method for navigating a document are disclosed. The electronic reader includes two display screens which can be angled to each other, like an open book, for viewing by a person reading the document. The electronic reader includes a tilt detection system for detecting tilting of the electronic reader indicative that the reader has completed reading the page on the first screen and has pivoted the electronic reader to view the opposite screen. This causes the electronic reader to load a fresh page on the first screen, optionally after a short time delay, which allows for counter-rotational tilting to be taken into consideration.
Abstract: A setting changing device includes a display controller, a receiver, and a changing section. The display controller displays a designation screen for at least one of a first designation that designates a first item and an initial value of the first item; a second designation that designates a second item that prohibits changing via the setting screen by a user; or a third designation that designates a third item that prohibits displaying on the setting screen for users. The changing section, on the basis of the at least one of the first designation, second designation and third designation, (a) changes respective settings of the target device drivers, or, (b) generates for each of changeable setting items of the target device drivers, setting data that is referenced by device drivers when the setting screen is displayed.
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes: a ground image producing unit which produces a ground image that determines a print position of an information image; a ground image printing unit which prints the ground image produced by the ground image producing unit, with a printing color material which does not have a sensitivity in a reading wavelength of a reading apparatus that reads the information image; and an information image printing unit which prints the information image at a print position that is determined by the ground image printed by the ground image printing unit.
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate categorizing a group of linked web pages. A plurality of web pages each contains at least one link to another page within the group. A feature analyzer evaluates features associated with the one or more web pages to identify content, layout, links and/or metadata associated with the one or more web pages and identifies features that are labeled and features that are unlabeled. A graphing component creates a vector associated with each web page feature wherein vectors for unlabeled features are determined by their graphical proximity to features that are labeled. A co-training component receives the graph of vectors from the graphing component and leverages the disparate web page features to categorize each aspect of each feature of the page. A page categorizer receives aspect categorization information from the co-training component and categorizes the web page based at least upon this information.
Abstract: An image information transmission device includes a registration unit, a storage unit, a determination unit, and an image information transmission unit. The registration unit registers an image information transmission instruction describing a destination number specifying a destination of image information and an abbreviated number corresponding to the destination number. The storage unit stores the destination number and transmission setting information used for transmitting the image information to the destination specified by the destination number. The determination unit determines whether or not the destination number described in the image information transmission instruction is contained in the destination number. The image information transmission unit transmits the image information.
Abstract: A machine-implemented process determines web press printing capabilities and costs of different printing organizations using a processor. The printing capabilities comprise a number of printing units and a number of supply roll stands supplying continuous print media to the printing units. A printing request is received from a print customer through a graphic user interface. The printing request is evaluated using the processor to determine printing request requirements. A comparator compares the printing request requirements with the printing capabilities and costs to identify capable printing organizations of the different printing organizations that have abilities to process the printing request. The processor calculates different print choices and costs based on the printing capabilities and costs of the capable printing organizations and outputs the different print choices and costs to the print customer through the graphic user interface.
