Abstract: A classifier training method and apparatus for training, a linear classifier trained by the method, and its use, are disclosed. In training the linear classifier, signatures for a set of training samples, such as images, in the form of multi-dimension vectors in a first multi-dimensional space, are converted to a second multi-dimension space, of the same or higher dimensionality than the first multi-dimension space, by applying a set of embedding functions, one for each dimension of the vector space. A linear classifier is trained in the second multi-dimension space. The linear classifier can approximate the accuracy of a non-linear classifier in the original space when predicting labels for new samples, but with lower computation cost in the learning phase.

The discovering of an application includes ascertaining that the application is available for execution and having the ability to activate the application.
Abstract: A process management apparatus includes a receiving unit and a processing unit. The receiving unit receives identification information read by plural readers corresponding to plural terminal apparatuses when a medium is received, a first notification notifying that processing in a process where the identification information is read is completed, and a second notification notifying that the medium is received from a preceding process, from the plural terminal apparatuses. The processing unit executes predetermined processing, when the identification information and the second notification are not received from a terminal apparatus of a next process, within a predetermined time period after the first notification is received.
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a feature region extracting section, a feature amount calculating section, a position calculating section, first and second selecting sections and a correction factor calculating section. The feature region extracting section extracts feature regions. The feature amount calculating section calculates feature amounts of the extracted feature regions. The position calculating section calculates positions of the extracted feature regions. The first selecting section selects pairs of feature regions, which are estimated to be common in the first and second images, based on the feature amounts and the positions. The second selecting section narrows down the selected pairs of feature regions based on similarity in relative positional relation between the feature regions of the first and second images.
Abstract: A droplet ejecting device has a droplet ejecting head, a rotating member, a recovery unit, and a negative pressure generating unit. The rotating member is disposed so as to oppose a nozzle surface of the droplet ejecting head, and is a conveying body that conveys a recording medium. The recovery unit has a suction hole provided at a region of the rotating member on which the recording medium is not loaded, and recovers, from the suction hole, liquid that becomes a mist at a time when the droplets are ejected from the nozzles. The negative pressure generating unit generates negative pressure at the recovery unit.

Abstract: An image forming method, which includes transferring an image of toner on an image carrying member to a recording medium, and fixing the image transferred to the recording medium, includes: smoothening a surface of the image transferred to the recording medium; and penetrating the image into the recording medium without contact on the surface of the image on the recording medium. The penetrating is a final process of the fixing.
Abstract: A solid printer includes a solid ink transportation system that uses multiple forces to direct solid ink to a melting assembly within the printer. The solid ink transportation system includes a housing having an opening through which solid ink is inserted, a first transportation path coupled at one end to the housing opening and configured to operate as a gravity feed to move the solid ink from the housing opening along the first transportation path, at least one other transportation path coupled at one end to the other end of the first transportation path, the solid ink being moved along the at least one other transportation path primarily by a mechanically generated force, and a melting device coupled to an exit of the at least one other transportation path to receive the solid ink moved along the at least one other transportation path.
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes an information acquiring portion that acquires information on image process conditions for processing image data, a creating portion that creates additional image data, serving as a watermark image, with additional information to be embedded into the image data on the basis of the information on the image process conditions acquired, and a merging portion that merges the image data with the additional image data to create composite image data.
Abstract: An image processor obtains character images included in input image and the character codes for identifying the characters represented by the character images, classifies the character images included in the input image into a plurality of character image groups based on the obtained character codes, determines typical image patterns constituting the input image based on the character images classified in the character image groups, assigns indices for identifying the image patterns to the determined image patterns, and codes the occurrence position information of the character images included in the input image and the indices of the image patterns corresponding to the character images so as to be associated with each other.
Abstract: Processes for making photosensitive organic pigments for use in imaging members, specifically processes for making a photosensitive phthalocyanine pigments having a specific crystal form, comprising dissolving the pigment in a mixture of a haloacetic acid and alkylene halide to form a solution, precipitating the pigment by adding the solution to a non-solvent system, the solution comprised of one or more organic solvents and a small amount of water, wherein the amount of water controls the crystal form of the pigment, followed by a treatment with a halobenzene to obtain a highly photosensitive second crystal form of the pigment.

Abstract: A document annotation method includes modeling data elements of an input document and dependencies between the data elements as a dependency network. Static features of at least some of the data elements are defined, each expressing a relationship between a characteristic of the data element and its label. Dynamic features are defined which define links between an element and labels of the element and of a second element. Parameters of a collective probabilistic model for the document are learned, each expressing a conditional probability that a first data element should be labeled with information derived from a label of a neighbor data element linked to the first data element by a dynamic feature. The learning includes decomposing a globally trained model into a set of local learning models. The local learning models each employ static features to generate estimations of the neighbor element labels for at least one of the data elements.
