Abstract: Methods are presented for calibrating or characterizing a printing system with respect to at least one color, in which a toner reproduction curve (TRC) is measured and curve-fitted according to a least squares solution using a set of spline basis functions having high spline density in regions of high TRC curvature and/or high measurement noise, with the weights of the spline functions being restricted to positive values to maintain monotonicity of the TRC.
Abstract: A translation device comprises a character recognition unit that recognizes text data in a text region of an input image; a translator that translates the text data in the text region; and a layout configuration processor that generates data containing the translated text data in the text region and graphics in the input image, wherein a layout of the input image is maintained in a layout of the image of the data generated by the layout configuration processor.
Abstract: An information processing apparatus has an additional information adding unit, a display, an acquisition unit, a status determination unit, and a display control unit. The additional information adding unit adds additional information to an electronic document. The display displays the electronic document and the additional information added to the electronic document. The acquisition unit acquires, in a state where the electronic document is being displayed by the display unit, additional information added to the electronic document by another information processing apparatus. The status determination unit determines whether or not a user is unhindered in referencing the additional information added by the other information processing apparatus. The display control unit controls the display to display the additional information acquired by the acquisition unit when it has been determined by the status determination unit that the user is unhindered in the referencing.
Abstract: The present invention provides display device particles that have positive or negative chargeability and have color and are produced using at least a calcium compound, in which a concentration of the calcium compound in the display device particle is 0.05% by weight or less in terms of a calcium element content, a process for producing the display device particles, as well as an image-display medium and an image-forming device each using the display device particles.
Abstract: A photoconductor that includes a supporting substrate, a first photogenerating layer, a second photogenerating layer and at least one charge transport layer. The first photogenerating layer contains, for example, a phthalocyanine pigment, and the second photogenerating layer contains a different phthalocyanine pigment than the first photogenerating layer phthalocyanine.

Abstract: This invention provides supplying a model that will together with software and a controller, separately selectively cycle up (activate) or cycle down (inactivate) color stations in accordance with their need for a particular imaging run. The cycled down stations are not activated for the imaging run thereby preserving the quality of the developer and toner in that inactivated color station or housing. The model will vary, depending on the machine or desired images. Each model can later be used for machines of the same family.
Abstract: The present invention provides an image forming apparatus including: a drive roller; an image forming unit; a fixing unit; a sub drive roller provided at the downstream side of the fixing unit, nipping and conveying a continuous-form-paper, on which the toner image is fixed, to the downstream side, a rotational speed of the sub drive roller being changable; a buffer unit provided between the fixing unit and the sub drive roller, being able to increase or decrease a buffer amount of the continuous-form-paper according to expansion or contraction of the continuous-form-paper in the fixing unit; a detection section that detects the buffer amount of the buffer unit; and a control section that controls the rotational speed of the sub drive roller based on the detection result of the detection section such that the buffer amount of the buffer unit is kept substantially constant.
Abstract: Methods form multi-color electrophoretic displays. The method includes providing a solution containing microcapsules, wherein the microcapsules comprise a shell that is transparent and a display medium within the shell, wherein the display medium comprised of either (a) at least two sets of differently colored particles in a substantially clear fluid, or (b) at least one set of colored particles in a differently colored fluid. The method includes dispensing the solution onto a substrate, wherein a display layer of microcapsules is formed on the substrate. The method includes positioning a conductive substrate adjacent to the substrate, wherein the substrate is located between the display layer and the conductive substrate, wherein the conductive substrate applies an electric field to at least one microcapsule of the display layer, wherein the sets of particles of each microcapsule in the display layer are movable within the microcapsule by the electric field to be displayed.

Abstract: Method, device, system and framework for enabling token and point level operations on language independent paper documents through camera phone interface. Image descriptors from snapshots of document captured by the phone can be extracted by phone itself and transmitted to server. In another implementation, the descriptors are extracted by receiving server. The server is connected to database of high-quality images of the same document and matched high-quality patch is sent back to phone for user's viewing and manipulation. Modifications and annotations of high-quality patch are transmitted to database and stored. Motion detection is combined with image recognition to provide high quality images of regions of document being viewed by sweeping the phone.
