Abstract: A radiant heating unit is selectively operated to move radiant heating panels to regulate heating of a continuous web of media as the web moves along a media pathway in an imaging device. The radiant heating panels in a radiant heating unit may be moved to any one of a plurality of positions between and including a fully open position and a retracted position in the housing. A panel driver is operated to move the radiant heating panels to one of the positions in the plurality of positions in response to a variable view factor signal.

Abstract: The presently disclosed embodiments are directed to a system and method for obtaining spectra of highly scattering pigmented layers and providing a spectral reflection ratio, which can be correlated to photoreceptor electrical performance. Abstract: Systems and methods of ejecting ink drops from an inkjet printer are disclosed. The systems and methods can include a printhead with one or more actuators with associated nozzles and membranes A voltage waveform can be applied to the actuators to fill the actuators with a volume of ink and eject the ink through the nozzles as ink drops. The voltage waveform can have associated pre-fill voltage to fill the actuator with ink and a firing voltage to eject the ink. The actuator membranes can have multi-height dimples to protect the membranes from contacting electrodes and reduce the electric field.

Abstract: Systems and methods of ensuring the erasure of transient documents are disclosed. The systems and methods include an imaging device that sends a transient document with a pre-printed image into an erase cycle to attempt to remove the image from the document. After the erase cycle, a scanner scans the transient document and converts the transient document into a digital image. A processor compares bit depths of individual bits of the digital image to a bit depth threshold. Depending on the comparison and a number of completed erase cycles, the transient document enters an additional erase cycle, completes as sufficiently erased, or is rejected as not sufficiently erased.
Abstract: An information processing apparatus comprises a memory that stores structure information indicating a structure of functions of a Web application. Upon acquiring extension page information defining an extension function of the Web application, the apparatus sets up the extension page information in the memory according to a setup command, and determines, based on the setup command and the structure information, an insertion position of the extension function in the structure of functions of the Web application. Abstract: A vacuum transport includes a segmented, rigid or solid articulated belt combined with a vacuum plenum in each segment of the belt. Using a rigid segmented belt with a vacuum plenum connected to each segmented belt section eliminates ordinarily encountered drag friction in conventional vacuum transports by reducing the force necessary to move the belt with media thereon while simultaneously improving the motion quality of the move by driving the articulated rigid belt from the top side of the belt in a flat section.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for saving power in an image production device is disclosed. The method may include determining if the image production device has been inactive for a predetermined period of time, wherein if it is determined that the image production device has been inactive for a predetermined period of time, decreasing a fuser fan's output by a predetermined amount, decreasing a fuser lamp setting by a predetermined amount, the fuser system being heated to operate at a temperature that is at a first predetermined level, setting a timer, determining if the fuser system's temperature is at a second predetermined level, wherein if it is determined that the fuser system's temperature is not at the second predetermined level, determining if the timer expired, wherein if it is determined that the timer expired, decreasing a fuser lamp setting by the predetermined amount and resetting the timer.
